Super Cute DIY Gingerbread House Place Card Holder

We are not done with our gingerbread themed tablescape friends! Today, I’m sharing one more gingerbread themed project…a super cute DIY gingerbread house place card holder that you’ll want to create ASAP! They are very easy to create and if you’ve completed the thrifted gingerbread house project or gingerbread nutcracker napkin ring craft, then you should have all the project supplies you need apart from the mini house ornaments.

While I was out shopping for the mini nutcrackers to create the gingerbread nutcracker napkin rings, I found the most adorable mini house ornaments. I knew what I was going to create with them instantly!

After creating these DIY gingerbread house place card holders, I realized that they could also serve to hold food labels on our holiday table! I definitely need to buy more of these ornaments as I’m now thinking that they could be used all year long simply by spraying them a different color. I later found out that there were very similar Pottery Barn ones priced at $30 for a set of 4. The set of 3 mini houses used for my version were about $3.00 WITH TAX!

I also created a set of gingerbread place cards that would compliment these holders so beautifully! Be sure to grab your free set (only available to subscribers) in this weekend’s newsletter.

How to DIY Gingerbread House Place Card Holders

To start your mini gingerbread houses, you’ll need to get my favorite gingerbread colored spray paint, warm caramel by Rustoleum. This spray paint has been my bestie this holiday season! Give your house ornaments two coats of paint, allowing the paint to dry between coats, and then add the cute gingerbread house details with a Sharpie white oil based paint marker.

See! Super quick and simple!

Then, pressed the little ornament hook and chimney together to create a pinched area for the place cards to sit. No need to add anything to the house!

If your placecards shift, feel free to add a little bit of double sided tape to hold it in place. However, I found that the ornament hood held all the cards rather well.

Gingerbread Themed Christmas Tablescape

Add these cute gingerbread house place card holders to your gingerbread themed Christmas tablescape to complete the look. Don’t forget to add those gingerbread houses we made from the thrifted ceramic houses and gingerbread nutcracker napkin rings. If you created the gingerbread house garland from the paint chips, this would be a great place to add them to your table too!
