Simple Playroom Christmas Decor
I’ve been bitten by the Christmas bug for sure! I’m sharing another area decorated for Christmas today for the It’s a Colorful Life Christmas tour hosted by Jennifer of Dimples and Tangles as well as Jewel of Jeweled Interiors. Be sure to visit all the homes shared all week by clicking the links following my simple playroom Christmas decor ideas.
Hello to all coming from Haneen’s Haven on this blog hop! I adore how Haneen decorates for Christmas and you may have noticed her home from my Christmas tree hop a couple of weeks ago. She surely didn’t disappoint then or today!
Today is all about the playroom here at Casa Watkins. I’ve shared our colorful living room Christmas decor last week and when we are not here lounging, we are all relaxing in the playroom.
I also shared my Mediterranean Christmas inspired dining room last week as well! Though the majority of the first floor was already decked out for Christmas, the sunroom/playroom was left for the weekend so that the kids could decorate their “kid tree”.
Simple Playroom Christmas Decor
It doesn’t matter how many trees I have around the house, the kids always get their own tree. Why? Well, the rest of the trees are edited and styled by me and I want the kids to make their own memories decorating a Christmas tree.
I fell in love with decorating Christmas trees as a kid and I want to pass that joy onto my own kids. Their dad always gets to put the star at the top once they finish decorating the tree and believe it or not, it’s their favorite part! This year, I purchased a kaleidoscope star that makes a cute light show on the ceiling! It is stunning, especially at night!
Sometimes it gets super hard to see a collection of ornaments in one area of the tree or a completely naked area on the other side and not move any of the ornaments. But a promise is a promise and I just have to remember that the kids have their own..ahem…style? Our kid tree is full of their DIY ornaments from school and home, plus all sorts of priceless memories.
The rest of the room was decorated very simply since the star of the show is the tree and frankly, they WILL mess up this space pretty quickly. So, the least amount of things present means a quicker cleanup.
A table display of our Christmas books on the table reminds them to continue reading even during their school break. Though we don’t regularly do bedtime reading time anymore since we read during the afternoon, we still do bedtime readings of our favorite Christmas stories and I love this time with the kids. Have the kiddos pick out their favorite Christmas books to display on the table.
The table has my DIY botanical Christmas trees, which I’ll share the tutorial for later this week, and a couple of plants that love the lighting in the sunroom. You can also have the kids decorate their own mini Christmas trees and display them in the playroom as well! The large woven tray that usually hangs above the table was replaced with a pretty wreath that has gold tone bells for the season.
The playroom is a small area, but packed with so much light and personality. To view the entire space be sure to check out my video tour on my Instagram later today. Now, hop on over to Kate Decorates for more colorful Christmas inspiration! Check back throughout the week for more homes too!
