Winter Home Tour Part One

I typically decorate for Christmas in phases. I’ll start with one room and then use it as inspiration for my other rooms. Today, I’m sharing my entryway and living room which served as an influence for other areas of my home. Let me apologize first for my picture quality. It has been a long rainy, and gloomy week outside and that is not prime condition for photos. Even in all the gloom, my living room stays quite colorful.
I have gone extremely overboard with Christmas decor in the past. This year, I thought I’d stay with a theme and work it throughout my home. I found several pieces of blue and white chinoiserie at the thrift store last week. They were perfect inspiration for my home and my entryway table.
Can you believe that I purchased all of these pieces (except the 2 sitting on top of books) as well as another 2 short vases for less than $15 dollars! Mega sale of the thrift store last weekend.
I wasn’t planning on purchasing this small clock, but it just looked so cute next to all the blue and white ginger jars and vases.
I still enjoy looking at the two wire baskets on the bottom of my entrywall table. I spruced up the basket by adding some small stockings into the mix. You will notice small touches of red here and there. I’m not a believer that red must be incorporated into every Christmas vignette, but my mother does. So, I always keep a few red items just to please her.
Isn’t it great to get a new look just by changing pillows? I did a small pillow shuffle to bring in some festive colors. The Frida pillow over to the blue chair and brought in a big furry pillow from Target.
I added a yellow patterned pillow, the color inspired by the Frida pillow, to the green chair for some added color. Cinnamon scented pinecones and a mini tree in a chinoiserie bowl make up my side table.
I really wanted to use pinecones this year now that the kids are older. I tried to use them a couple of years ago and both little kiddies continued to pick them up and throw them right onto the floor. I had to vacuum all the little bits off the carpet every day!
Ornaments were mixed with pinecones to make up a lovely coffee table vignette. I recycled the candles from Thanksgiving and they were perfection on my coffee table.
Side note: That cookie didn’t make it long. I set it out for the picture and right after I finished photographing it, it was eaten. These cookies didn’t make it either….
