How To Make Global Bohemian Tassel Ornaments
Create global bohemian tassel ornaments easily! Plus, how you can update your old glass ornaments in seconds.
Welcome back to day 2 of A Very Global Christmas, where Kathy and I share 12 days of globally inspired Christmas ideas! Yesterday, I shared my tropical bohemian Christmas tree and today it’s all about diy ornaments on the tree. Be sure to visit Kathy of Up To Date Interiors for her diy two toned Scandi ball ornaments and Scandi wood painted ornaments tutorials. They turned out so chic and beautiful!
The kids and I have a tradition of making a Christmas ornament each year. It’s so cute to see how their ornaments have changed as they become older. A few years ago, their prized ornament would have been a glittered popsicle stick or decorated hand cut out. Today, we take a more mature approach for some of the ornaments but do have a fun ornament making day that is more kid friendly. So, for us adult crafters looking to have our own ornament making day, I present this tutorial for how to make global bohemian tassel ornaments.
I’ve also included a quick way to update your old ornaments too! I’ve already shared a couple diy boho ornaments a few weeks ago, but this global bohemian tassel ornament is by far the easiest. Okay, maybe not as easy as the diy plant propagation ornaments, but still pretty easy to make.
How To Make Global Bohemian Tassel Ornaments
Tassels are a prevalent item in any bohemian style home. Whether you purchase tassels or create them yourself, tassel ornaments are a wonderful way to add color, whimsy, and global bohemian style. Kick up the ornaments another notch by adding authentic African bone beads.
Simply use wire (I used floral wire) to thread your tassel loop. Add unfinished wood beads to give your diy global bohemian tassel ornaments a more organic/natural feel. Finish the diy tassel ornament with a global style bead and knot the end. I wrapped the wire around my scissors to create a hanging loop. Then, hang on your tree and enjoy!
How To Update Old Christmas Ornaments
Looking to update your old glass ornaments? Use unfinished wood beads along with stained African bone beads atop of the ornament hanging wire. Talk about instant change! Use the same method above to create your own Christmas ornament makeover with global bohemian flair.
Using floral wire, loop the wire around the top of the ornament and add your wooden beads. Use the scissors again to create the hanging loop for the ornament.

Hi Stephanie — Love this idea! I make jewelry and I have added beads to existing vintage ornaments before, but not in a boho style – can’t wait to try this 🙂 Would you mind sharing where you got those Christmas ball ornaments in such a great shade of green?
