Behind The Blogger: A Day In The Life

Hola!
My friends and I are back today sharing for the Behind The Blogger series hosted by Jess of Domicile 37!  I have really enjoyed giving you all a backstage pass to my life and a behind the scenes look of my blog.  This week we are talking a bit about the Day in the Life of a Blogger.  If you haven’t read the past posts, check them out.

Hmmm, a day in my life.  Let me start by acknowledging that I have not mastered how to balance home responsibilities and blogging.  I have found that I need to write down everything in order to remember to do it.  My husband swears by google calendar and puts any type of event on the google calendar just so it chimes reminders on my cell phone.  I’m not a big fan of electronic calendars and often bypass the events he has made.  There’s something about the writing tasks on paper and checking them off on by one that gets my heart pumping!  I have always loved checklists.

My day varies per the day of the week.  My 2 and 4 year old attend a half day learning program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  I typically run errands those days and buy any prep materials for my projects.  I am sometimes able to whip out a project as well.  Tuesdays and Thursdays are home days.  We barely head out those days, which gives me plenty of time work on projects, theoretically.  In reality, Tuesdays and Thursdays are spent coordinating learning activities for the kids.

Finding the Balance between Life and Blog
Balancing the home responsibilities and the blog has been something that I have struggled with recently.  I may finish a great looking pillow, but then have to stay up late to finish folding the laundry.  Or, I can create a beautiful vignette but then have a pile of dishes that needs to be washed.  It’s still a learning process for me, and one lesson that I need to learn sooner rather than later.  I just recently researched a few programs that can help with blog post scheduling in order to get back some free time.  I’m optimistic that it will work!

Blogging has become an outlet for my creativity and has brought me so much joy.  However, my children are only 2 and 4 once.  Finding balance between blogging and my life is critical for me as I am first a mother then a blogger.  Though, my husband would correct that sentence and say first a wife, then a mother, and a blogger last.  🙂

How am I Inspired for Projects?
I am often asked how I come up with my project ideas.  Many times, I get an idea right before I lay down to sleep.  Other times, I stare at a pile of materials waiting for inspiration to strike.  Yes, this actually works for me!  I also find inspiration from home decor magazines and Pinterest.  Much of my time is spent thinking of new ways to use, style, or update and item.  I like to share non-traditional home decorating tips or unique DIY projects.  Once inspiration strikes, I am off trying to complete the project and post the following day.

How do I end my day?
My husband and I share the nighttime routines for both children.  I am exhausted by the time we finish brushing teeth, giving baths, and reading bedtime stories.  You would think that I’m off to bed too.  Oh no amigas, the life of a blogger is not done yet.  Coffee or tea is made and I start responding to my blog comments, reading my friend’s blogs and commenting, along with some social media promotion.  Basically, all the typing work starts late at night…just an FYI should you ever see a typo on my blog, haha.

I love my life and blogging has just made it even better.
Thanks so much for stopping by my casa today!

Please check out what a day in the life is like for my friends too!
