The warm weather is approaching and I couldn’t be happier.  I’m excited to continue my spring touches around the house.  I shared my family room spring touches with plants a bit ago, but the rest of the house has been lagging.  February gets super hectic with all the birthday celebrations we have.  Now that it’s finally over, I can concentrate on sharing more spring ideas!  I’ll be sharing a spring tour of the house in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned for that.

Today, I’m joining Monica of Monica Wants It for a spring tablescape blog hop.  If you’re coming from Kathy of Up to Date Interiors site, WELCOME!  I just love how Kathy infuses such chic global style in her home and tablescapes.  We will be teaming up again for another Very Global event this spring beginning March 12th.  Hope you all come back to check out all 7 days of globally inspired spring decor and projects. You can check out our Very Global Christmas series to pin ideas for next Christmas.

The early spring period mostly involves simple touches here at Casa Watkins.  As the weather heats up, the decor pieces just increase, increase, and increase in amount!  It’s much harder to keep my maximalist style side at bay when the weather heats up.  For now, the dining room is decked out for spring using some spring florals, plants, and blend of colors.

Spring florals for the dining room

Instead of large spring bouquets, I decided to do simple monochromatic arrangements with spring florals.  The daffodils were placed in a jar vase very similar to the Hearth and Home vase sold at Target.  I love how the modern shape of the vase offsets the rustic wood elements of the dining table and dough bowl.

Pops of Plants

Everything starts to bloom in spring, so you may want to add smaller plants to your dining room instead of a slew of larger plants.  Or…..just do both!  These small faux plants worked so well in the dough bowl.  You can also place them on a mantel or by a window without the headache of remembering to water them.  My real plants have been struggling in all the gloomy weather.  They finally perked up with all the sunshine coming in the windows today.

Blend of Colors

I get that pastels are the traditional spring colors, but it’s hard to turn a blind eye to bold colors even in the spring.  So, blending pastels with bold colors allows me to have the best of both worlds.  I used pastel yellow and lavender dessert plates which look great with the bold colored rug and art.  The room was finished by placing a couple copper colored pillows on some of the chairs.  These chairs are quite comfortable, but it doesn’t hurt to add more cushion.
