Global Eclectic Dining Room Makeover: ORC Week 5

Hola!

One of my main values here on the blog is to share real experiences and be honest about the projects I do in my home.  When it comes to a 6 week makeover challenge, I must remain honest as well.  So, here goes.  My room has been very stagnant.  I have had several design indecisions and that has cost me time.  One week I will love something, and the next week I have changed my mind.  For example, I have changed my mind about the dining room rug a good 10 to 15 times!  I used my mood board to switch out rug choices and kept going back and forth contemplating whether the rug would work with the artwork and wall color.

Full disclosure, I just ordered a rug yesterday!  I pray that it gets here in time.  I truly struggled with the rug choices I had selected.  I love colors, as you know, but I also understand that there needs to be a balance.  I prefer a bold statement rug other than a statement wall.  In this particular room, the artwork is the statement.  Balancing the colors of this beautiful print with the accent decor and room features has proven a bit time consuming…particularly because I continue to change my mind.  Here are just a few of the dozens of ideas I had using selections from RugsUSA.

Which one do you think I decided to go with?  I think they all look great with the Mountain table by Urban Home.  I did have to make a decision rather quickly in order to have the rug shipped in time.  Hopefully, it was the right decision.  There is so many smaller projects to get done this weekend.  I guess my Mother’s day is going to be spent finalizing my dining room.

Here is the real deal of the tasks I have remaining:

  1. Touch up the wall
  2. Touch up the yellow buffet
  3. Change the hardware from the buffet??? (once again an indecision)
  4. Hang new curtain rod
  5. Purchase AND hang the new curtains (Such a procrastinator !)
  6. DIY pillows (Because purchasing the pillows would be too easy and I apparently love the path of resistance…)
  7. Hope and Wish the rugs into existence!!!!!!!

I have been looking at how to style the table as well.  I shared a few pics of the colors I was thinking of using on Instagram.

How beautiful are the details of this moroccan tray from El Ramla Hamra!  And to think that these are handcrafted!!  A beautiful tea glass set with some florals would be wonderful on this tray.

I love how the tropical palms and yellow blooms look with the cane seating of the gorgeous chairs from LampsPlus.  These beautiful chairs make this room seem so much more cohesive.  I adore the tropical/Caribbean vibes oozing from this placesetting.

Thanks so much for checking in my progress!

Adios!

  1. Steph, I can’t wait to see which one you chose! I know at the end, it will all look so good together. Good luck, friend!! I love everything you do 🙂

  2. Oh Stephanie, it’s all looking so great! I can’t wait to see it and to see which rug you picked, I think they are all fabulous. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to the reveal!

  3. Will you have enough time to do all that?!

The pillows alone – getting them just the way you want them – the wall touch ups AND the vanity?

Not to stress you out even more but perhaps the path of least resistance worth considering.

I really really want to see the finished room!
