DIY Sea Glass Picture Frame Gift

When it comes to DIY gifts that kids can make, the easier the better. My kids always gift their grandparents a photo of themselves each year for Christmas. It’s a great way to update those school photos and other pictures at their grandparents’ house, plus the kids feel amazing when they create their own gift. This year, we are making DIY sea glass picture frames as gifts!

DIY Sea glass gift ideas

The modern Mediterranean Christmas ideas kicked off last week with my modern boho coastal Christmas tree. I wanted to use the glass for some DIY sea glass ornaments and thought it would be a great gift idea too! Just create a few pieces and box them up for a beautiful gift.

These beautiful pieces of glass are so colorful that I want them everywhere this Christmas! I even created some DIY boho gift wrapping ideas to include them too.

You may be hesitant to let kids touch glass, but this sea glass is super easy to handle and didn’t have sharp edges (at least in my batch). This DIY sea glass picture frame gift idea is a great way to include the kids into your Christmas decorating. Not only can they create their own sea glass ornaments, but they can also create their own gift idea too! What a great way to spend family time and craft some Christmas items together.

DIY Sea Glass Picture Frame

To create your own sea glass picture frames, you’ll need the following materials. I’ve linked the ones I’ve used, but feel free to get these at your local craft store.

Materials needed:
- Colorful sea glass (I ordered this one, but you can pick up at craft store for much cheaper)
- acrylic photo frames (similar set linked, but could also pick up from the craft store or dollar stores!)
- glue gun

The process of creating your own sea glass picture frame is very easy. Simply lay out the glass pieces you’d like to use and place them throughout the frame without gluing. Here is when you can experiment with the layout and get the look you want for the frame.

I also double checked the sea glass placement by inserting the photo I was planning to use. **You can do this midway into gluing the glass pieces as well. ** This way, I could be sure I wouldn’t cover any cute faces on the photo. Once ready, begin hot gluing each piece onto the frame.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please supervise children with hot glue. You may have to help them adhere the glass to the frame depending on your kids’ ages.

Finish gluing all the glass pieces and insert your photo if you haven’t already. Wrap the frame in pretty gift wrap to complete the gift. Easy Peasy!
