Boho Chic Craft Room Makeover: NYNR Refresh Challenge Week 1
It’s time for the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge! I’m sharing my new boho chic craft room makeover plans and how you can participate in the challenge this year!
Happy New Year!!!
I’m so thrilled to be welcoming 2018. 2017 wasn’t necessarily a bad year, but I definitely didn’t accomplish some of the goals I had planned last January. It’s another year and another chapter of the New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge! Each January, I invite a few of my blogger friends to refresh a space in their home in celebration of a brand new year. What better way to kick off a new year than a new room. We share our room progress each Tuesday during the month of January and share the final reveal the last Tuesday. This year, I’m opening up the invitation to EVERYONE! Link up your weekly progress each Tuesday using the linkup tool at the end of the post. Be sure to check out all of the featured bloggers’ room progress each week too! I know which rooms they are doing this year and you don’t want to miss these.
Don’t have a blog, but want to participate? Check out the challenge info page for more information. Those who want a refresh their home, but don’t wish to share their progress can also partake in my New Year, New Home 5 day mini series only available via Casa Watkins Living on Facebook!
The Room Refresh!
I’m really excited to share that my refresh room for 2018 is my…..drum roll….. craft room! If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you probably have read that my basement craft room has been on my to do list for 3 YEARS! I’m tired of waiting for the availability and time to complete this room. I am determined to get this space done this month. I told myself that I deserve my mom cave/craft room and I WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN! Momma needs her own space.
I snapped some pics this past weekend to show you all how bad this space has evolved. Since the room wasn’t being utilized, we kept packing boxes and storage items in the room. It continued to grow…and grow…and grow. Don’t judge me…..I know that I am a hoarder, saver! (also these were taken from my phone since I can’t get my tripod even into the room!)
Boho Chic Craft Room/Office Inspiration
Here are some spaces that inspired me in my craft room planning.
My plan is to transform the room into a small creative studio where I can craft, read my books in quiet, do a little home planning, etc. Of course, you know that I’ll need some boho chic vibes in this space along with some global style fusion. Tune in next Tuesday for more details on the room design and room progress. I expect to have this room cleared and repainted by then…hopefully.
Be sure to check out my buddies New Year, New Room refresh plans! Share your plans using the #NewYearNewRoomChallenge on social media and you may see us sharing it!

Oh boy Steph…I’m jealous! This is going to be an amazing transformation. I can’t wait to see what you do with the space. Gosh, I wish I had a spare room to call a “craft room”.
Thank you as always for all your hard work in creating such a fun makeover series.
HAHA! I had to carve out a room, because this room wasn’t on the original plans for the basement. 🙂
Stephanie, I love it! I am so glad you are working on YOU…you know what I mean! I look forward to seeing this space all prettied up!
Thanks Jess! It feels great to finally be working on this space.

Thanks so much Iris! I’m exciting to have this space come together and retreat to it when the kids go to bed. 🙂
I’ve always wanted a basement! What a cool space to makeover. I love the studio mcgee pic and I know you’ll top it love!
Thanks so much! I can’t wait to get into this room and start crafting it up!
I finally just got my post done and jumped in! Excited to have this motivation to get our room done!
Thanks for joining in the fun Jess!
This is going to be great, and I love your inspiration pics. I wish we had basements in Texas- would love more room! 🙂
Haha! We used to use it way more than we do now…..hoping to kickstart more use of the space after this room is done.
I can’t wait to see how this turns out! I love everything you refresh!
Thanks so much Teryn! I’m glad this room will finally be done.
I just love your inspiration photos. Your craft room is going to be amazing!! I’m hoping if we move soon, we can have an extra bedroom for my work space. I’ll have to use yours as inspiration!!
Thank you so much Kathy! Right now all of my supplies are all over the house. It’s going to be nice to finally have a space to store it all.
Up until just recently, our basement was the same! It was like we were trying to see how many boxes we could fill it up with!! Your boho chicness and global stylishness is going to be so fabulous in here! I so agree…mama needs a space of her own! Thanks for all of your hard work in putting together another challenge for us all!
Thank you so much Rachael! Can’t wait to see your kitchen!!!
The makeover wouldn’t be half as amazing if your before picture looked great. Can’t wait to see the final result.
Thanks Jane! I can’t wait to get it all finished up! Hopefully it’ll all come together in time. :/
