Small, Windowless laundry room refresh
Oh my! 2021 is here and we are diving right into a room refresh! It’s the 2021 New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge! Each year, I challenge a few friends to join me in refreshing a space to kick off the New Year. This year, we will be doing it two times! Stay tuned for the second installment later this year. This month, each designer will refresh a space and share their progress each Tuesday this January with the final room reveal on the last Tuesday of the month.
Last year, I tackled two rooms! An artsy, industrial boy’s bedroom for my son and a neutral scandi-glam bedroom for my eldest daughter. This year we are all taking things a bit more light as we have all had a rough year on top of increased family demands during this COVID pandemic.
We welcome you to tackle a new room refresh as well! I’ll be refreshing my small, windowless laundry room this round. You can follow all the progress each of us will share by clicking on the links below and stay tuned for a progress post next Tuesday. Now, on to the before pictures of our laundry room.
Small Windowless Laundry Room Before Photos
The laundry room is a bright shade of what was suppose to be a vibrant avocado color, but the paint looks like a lime green without any natural light available from windows. Oh, how I wish I had windows in this small space! Well, paint is definitely on the to do list for the refresh.
The linoleum is an eye sore and is the same one that was found in all the bathrooms too. UGH! The ideas are swirling as to how to update this awful flooring. However, I haven’t finalized anything just yet. As a matter of fact, I haven’t solidified any plans! This room will come together truly organically this round. Right now, I just have a list of elements I’d like to see updated/changed.
The cabinets definitely need a face lift. These are the same hue of the cabinets we used to have in the kitchen before I tackled the modern boho kitchen makeover a few years ago. Though I love the look of an open shelf in a laundry room, the thought of ridding myself of closed cabinet space scares me a bit. We use these cabinets to store our extra bulk house supplies and if I rid myself of these essential cabinets….then that means the supplies would end up in who knows where!
The space is extremely small and also serves as the access point to the basement, so proper use of space is very important for this refresh. I’ll have to utilize each inch of this laundry room.
I think I’ll have a better picture of the game plan later this week. However, I’ve found some inspiration photos that have struck up some ideas. I’ll be sure to share those on Instagram today, so be sure you’re following me on Instagram so share your thoughts! Head on over my friends’ blogs and check out which rooms they will be tackling.
