I don’t think anyone finds restaining or refinishing things every year or two any bit of fun. When it came to designing our brand new modern white bohemian kitchen, it was all about durability…..and style of course!
Fireclay Sink Review
We had quite a few problems with our old stainless steel faucet and sink. The faucet never seemed to stay in place (even with tightening the screws every week!), the stainless steel sink and faucet weren’t really stainless since it showed every bit of water staining, and the sink never seemed large enough to fit all the pots from cooking.
I saw a Blanco fireclay sink a couple of years ago and fell head over heels in love with the farmhouse style fireclay sink. Not only are Blanco’s fireclay sinks stylish, but absolutely durable. My mother in law has a fireclay kitchen sink that was installed in her home over 25 years ago and it hasn’t scratched or broken at all! Blanco sinks are made of durable fireclay material that is perfect for our busy family.

You basically care for fireclay sinks just as you would any sink. Blanco fireclay sinks don’t require any special soaps or washes, no sealing coats applications needed annually, and especially no excessive cleaning or upkeep. I hardly have time for cleaning as is. So, any items that require additional cleaning or upkeep are not on my radar. They just can’t be! That’s why we went with quartz countertop….MUCH less upkeep compared to granite and marble.
What’s the Best Feature Of Fireclay Sinks?
Blanco’s fireclay sinks have a smooth and very easy to clean surface that is scratch resistant, stain resistant, and shock resistant. Let me say that again… scratch resistant, stain resistant, and shock resistant! This is literally a dream sink that can take practically anything. No more water stains, scrape, or scratches in your sink. I can’t think of any cons for a fireclay sink. Perhaps the only con is the price. Fireclay sinks generally cost more than a stainless steel sink. However, when you look at all the features and durability it is well worth the price. Plus, you only have to buy a sink once since it’s going to last you a long…LONG time.
Our Blanco Cerana sink is also reversible and offers two different corner shapes. If we are ever in the mood for another kitchen reno (which we are not!), we could change the style of the sink just by switching it around!

The Empressa faucet also switches from a single to multi water stream. I love using the multi stream to wash off any sticky foods from plates. Those water streams are pretty strong and I love being able to skip using the sponge.
