Modern Resort Style Master Bedroom Makeover

I’ve partnered with AllModern, Mohawk Rug, Select Surfaces, and LampsPlus to create a modern resort bedroom. I have received product for this post, but all thoughts remain my own!

Raise your hand if your master bedroom decorating is practically non-existent! Isn’t it the oddest thing that the space you spend the most time in is one of the last spaces to be decorated? This month, I’m determined to concentrate on refreshing the most used spaces in our home. I recently added colorful wallpaper in the kitchen and now I’m concentrating on the neglected master bedroom. If you haven’t seen the master closet makeover! You can check out how I updated his side of the closet and her side of the closet!

Modern Resort Bedroom Style

Creating a serene resting place was a top priority for the bedroom makeover. I opted to go against my norm of infusing loads of color, to creating a serene neutral space with pops of color. Since the hubs and I require mental rest at bedtime, creating a space with softer touches of color was emphasized. Modern Resort style tends to emphasize serenity, relaxing vacation vibes, a mostly neutral color scheme, as well as a clean yet inviting and clutter free space.

One of the first things needed in this bedroom is the flooring makeover. The builder grade carpeting was not creating a serene feeling nor anything remotely modern. I’ve recruited my Dad and Hubs to help with the installation of laminate flooring so it could go faster, but installing laminate flooring is a DIY that is doable on your own. We chose to continue the Barnwood laminate started in the other bedrooms to maintain cohesion throughout the upstairs spaces. I’m excited to see it all done! Stay tuned for my tips on how to make your diy flooring look like a pro installed it!

I almost forgot to snap a before picture in my excitement to get started! Here is what the room looked like before. Notice the hideous carpeting! Ugh! So embarrassing.

Once the Select Surfaces laminate flooring is in place, the rest of the space comes to life with beautiful decor from AllModern, amazing lamps from Lamps Plus, and A popping rug from Mohawk Rugs. Take a look at the design plan!

The walls will remain white for now, so the bedroom will need a pop of color. The stunning terracotta colored curtains will create a warm hue in the room instantly that when coupled with the gorgeous Mohawk Rugs blue antique inspired rug will make for one super cozy retreat. You know I’m a fan of Mohawk rugs and have used them in practically every room upstairs including Nugget’s Artsy Industrial bedroom and Pink’s Neutral Scandi-glam bedroom! There are a Mohawk rugs for any decorating style.

Accessorizing a space has always been my favorite part of a room makeover. Bedrooms are suppose to have an inviting, cozy feeling to welcome you to a night of restful sleep. That sense of coziness is created when we mix textures and bring the decor to the walls. I love mixing photos and art to decorate walls and the 7 piece black frame set makes all the frames match for a modern gallery wall!

This bedroom will have loads of texture beginning from the white string lamps from Lamps Plus. There is a vast collection of amazing table lamps for us modern and global style lovers. Not only is swapping lamps a game changer when updating a space, but it’s one of the quickest way too! Be sure you browse all the must have table lamps from Lamps Plus and update your bedroom in minutes!

Ready for more texture? I’m planning to add a tassel blanket throw, white chevron duvet cover, and patterned throw pillows all from AllModern. The bedding will look like a modern retreat for sure!
