DIY Colorful Wooden Candleholder

Where did October go?!  This has probably been the fastest month for me.  It’s Create and Share Challenge already!  This month, Cat of Pocketful of Posies and I challenged our blogger friends to create an awesome DIY candle decor piece.  I opted to create this DIY colorful wooden candleholder.  The jewel toned colors are perfect for fall and have been used several times this season in my fall home tour.  This DIY candleholder is super easy to create and even faster to make.  Check out how you can create your own DIY colorful wooden candleholder below and be sure to check out the other amazeballs candle projects at the end of this post.  For more creative home decor projects for your home, be sure to check out the Create and Share Challenge page and we are on Pinterest too!

Are you one of those savvy shoppers that buy items toward the end of the season, or perhaps you shop seasonal items for the following year?  I definitely am!  I love to get crafty items for the next year and boy does it make me feel super good to get seasonal decor for only a few dollars when it was super expensive a couple of months prior.  That was the case for these laser cut wooden pieces.  I scored them for a buck last year at Joann Fabrics.  They can be found in practically any arts and craft store every fall.

I also had some rustic wood slices which was perfect for this project as well.  You can say that I actually made this for FREE since I used what I had on hand.  You can easily recreate this DIY colorful candle holder for only a couple of dollars.  Customized the look to fit your own fall color pallet.

What You Need:

  • Laser cut wooden pieces
  • Small wood slice
  • Glue gun
  • Dye paints

To create your own DIY wood luminary candle holder, start by selecting your dye color pallet.  These dye paints are awesome for raw wood projects.  I used them to paint some DIY woven charger plates and it turned out wonderful.  The teal, magenta, and yellow were the perfect combination for my fall decor.  Paint your laser cut wooden piece, making sure to paint both sides.

Once your wooden piece is dry, attach to the wood slice piece using a glue gun.  It’s super important to adhere the wood piece to your wood slice as it’s laying flat.  Then, you can be sure that candle holder will lay flat on a surface.  Otherwise, be prepared to hang your candle holder because a misaligned leaf that protrudes too much on the bottom will not make your candle holder lay flat on a surface.  Style your new candleholder on your table, shelf, or mantel!
