DIY Bohemian Tribal Spool Decor
DIY Bohemian tribal spool decor for easy and colorful holiday decor! This DIY Bohemian spool decor idea works for any season!
We are almost done with the A Very Global Christmas series for the year! Today is day 9 of the 12 days of globally influenced holiday ideas. Kathy of Up To Date Interiors and I are sharing diy decor for the holidays! I mentioned before that holiday crafting is one of my favorite things about the holidays. I like creating something new for the house that is festive, chic, and can be used throughout the rest of the winter season. This DIY bohemian tribal spool decor does just that!
We tend to pack away any overt Christmas decor items right after the big day. However, all the winter themed decor stays out until January…ahem more like February. These diy bohemian tribal spools can be out for the holidays and all year long. By interchanging the embroidery floss, you can create seasonal looks easily. I chose to stick with the main colors of my tropical bohemian Christmas tree, but I plan to swap out the colors for the next season.
These diy bohemian spool decor make great coffee table decor, are good for centerpieces, and can even be hung as wall decor. Pick up a pack of unfinished wooden spools and try your hand at this easy holiday decor.
DIY Bohemian Spool Decor
Using an artist pen or fine point paint marker, draw an assortment of tribal markings on the edges of each unfinished wood spool. I purchased a pack of 6, but I found a pack of 12 wooden spools at a great price. I’m a fan of the mud cloth patterns, but I also wanted to include some markings I recently saw on a African wax cloth. You can make each spool it’s own pattern or have them all the same.
Once you’ve drawn your patterns, take 1 embroidery floss color and wrap around the middle of the wooden spool. Repeat for each of your spools and create a colorful set. Whether you love the traditional holiday colors or like a little non-traditional style like me, you can always find a color combination for every season or event.
I’m loving this color combination! How about you? Which colors would you use for these bohemian wooden spools? Let me know in the comments below.
Show off these beautiful bohemian tribal spool decor in a box, bowl, or tray! You could also use these as diy gifts or ornaments on your Christmas tree. Simply swap out the embroidery floss for a color scheme that works for your home.
Tune in tomorrow to see where I’ve placed these beauties! In the meantime, head over to Up To Date Interiors to see how Kathy is updating candlesticks for festive holiday decor.
