Designing A Small Bohemian Powder Room
It’s another week of the New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge! This year, I’m refreshing our powder room and as with previous years we are in week 2 without a fully designed space planned out! This past week was a little hectic since I hosted Christmas/New Years Take 2 due to my daughter’s boyfriend and baby getting sick with Covid. It was a fun holiday Re-do for them, but it dug into my project time.
This brings us to week 2 without a finalized design plan! I’ve seen a few elements I would love for the space and created a preliminary design plan. Hopefully my friends are much more prepared this week. Be sure to check out their posts below and see how they are planning to refresh their spaces this month.
Casa Watkins Living // Our Fifth House // Iris Nacole // My Eclectic Nest // This is Our Bliss // House of Hipsters // Once Upon a 1912 // The Happy Housie
I do want to share my initial design plan with you, knowing that there is a possibility that some elements may change. One of the reasons I love to update and complete projects throughout our home is that we can make it however we like. However, there are plenty of occasions where I’ve designed a makeover for one of our rooms and it doesn’t go with my overall tropical vacation home vibe. I’m just not certain this design compliments the rest of the first floor designs yet.
If you’re considering designing a space, please check out my how to make a mood board post where I share my mood board process.
Bohemian Powder Room Refresh Plans
What I’d love to do is incorporate some green paint, a board and batten or a similar wall paneling (I’ve never done this before so it’s going to be exciting!), and lots of natural textures. I’m also thinking of incorporating a woven texture, such as a basket ceiling, but I haven’t figured out logistics of the idea. My current design/styling ideas are below and give you the essence of what I’d love to do in the powder room.
I’m going to sit with the mood board a few more days before purchasing any items. However, I plan to start the wall paneling this week so stay tuned for more over on my Instagram!
