Colorful Global Boho Christmas Tree

Hooray for December.  The Christmas tree is up and ready to accept some gifts!  My favorite part of decorating for Christmas is definitely decorating the Christmas tree.  I’m more than thrilled to be hosting another My Home Style Blog Hop: Christmas Tree Edition.  I’m always blown away by the beauty each of these bloggers create with their Christmas trees.  This year, I was inspired by the vibrant colors from India and Morocco and created a colorful global boho Christmas tree.  This colorful Christmas tree is full of character and pizazz.  Disclaimer: I’ve included affiliate links for the items used to style my tree.  Should you click and shop this look, I may make a small commission of the sales at no cost to you.

I had tremendous fun decorating the tree this year.  We have two Christmas trees with one just for me to experiment with.  I knew I wanted a colorful tree full of vibrant colors and global style of course.  I thought about having a single country highlighted for the Christmas tree decoration, but I couldn’t resist incorporating multiple worldly cultures after seeing the amazing ornaments at World Market. These beautiful Indian garlands made of handmade fabric elephants totally made my day.  My first thought was to separate each elephant to make it into individual ornaments, but when I saw the garland on the tree I couldn’t possibly cut it.  These elephants signify good luck in India and how fitting is that for Christmas.  It also has a little bell at the end which just reminds me of the ringing in of the New Year.

World Market also had a few super neat ornaments that I went completely GAGA for.  How cute are these Moroccan lantern ornaments?!  Not only are these lanterns perfect for a global tree, but they come with a small light to make each lantern light up!  A few hand painted ornaments were mixed in with chic beaded ornaments and a DIY wood slice ornament that I’ll share later this week!

The DIY shibori wreath ornament combines perfectly with the boldly colored ornaments.  I also added a few beaded ornaments that I purchased from Michael’s years ago.  Did you make it to the huge sale they had on ornaments this past weekend?  Michael’s is a great place to buy all sorts of ornaments.  A pack of 50 ornaments was about $12.00 over the weekend.   Unfortunately, I missed the sale but I’m definitely looking forward to their end of the season sale.

I love a good twist to a Christmas tree.  Last year I used mirrors as tree adornment.  You can see that tree here.  This year, I inserted faux palm leaves and tangerines.  I thought it would be cool to use faux citrus fruits and leaves for a bohemian twist.  I just have to keep reminding Chi-Chi that they’re not real.  She adores tangerines and could eat an entire bag in one sitting if I let her.
