Decorating Our Bohemian Living Room for Summer
How I am decorating our bohemian living room for summer.
Perhaps switching furniture around each season is not always possible, but boy does it really make a space feel new. Yesterday, I swapped around some furniture placements in the living room for a new vibe. Since then, I’ve been using this newly rearranged space as a calming place from the kitchen chaos. As a teen, I’d rearrange my room each time I needed a fresh start after some sort of teen trauma. Too much homework, not enough money for the purse I wanted, friend/boyfriend troubles, or whatever teen issue I thought was a mountain of stress at that time. Now, all those things seem so trivial compared to home destruction or problems that can effect my family. Nevertheless, the fact that a room rearranged can kickstart a new mindset and outlook or simply make you feel renewed is amazing.

A few simple changes for the summer and my living room is ready for the new season. I shopped my house rather than shop for new items. Some of the things I’d normally use for other seasons, like my copper pillows for fall, worked for summer. If you don’t like the pillows you have on hand, try creating some easy global style pillow covers or easy no sew pillow makeovers.
Though, the most startling change is the removal of my top layered area rug. The blend of jute and the botanical print curtains from Ikea create instant summer feelings. Bring in a jute rug or some items in natural finishes like my woven bamboo diy global tassel box to create understated tropical bohemian vibes. Plants in baskets, especially belly baskets, can also up your tropical bohemian vibes. Check out the ways you can decorate using belly baskets for more ideas.
I was nervous moving the sofa to the window side of the room since the large wall would look a bit bare. I added a few art pieces that I removed from the dining room to make the wall space look more full. I do have more space on the left to add more art work in the near future. Though, I’m holding back on filling the entire wall until the renovations are close to an end. Not sure how the gallery wall will look once this living space is converting into a dining room. I’m finally ready to share a few of my design ideas so be on the lookout for that very soon.
The new living room is such a welcoming retreat especially when we want that summery outdoor vibe inside the house. I hope this post inspires you to do a bit of rearranging in your home this summer. A refresh can definitely help you feel different about a space and revive a home for the season.
