Decorating The Dining Room For Summer With Planters

I’m decorating the dining room for summer with planters.

The summer is upon us and now begins enjoying the beautiful outdoors.  Summer is a big time for bringing the feel of the outdoors inside the house.  Planters of lush green plants, vases of vibrant florals, and botanical prints are just a few ways to bring an alfresco feel to your home.  I typically love to use terra cotta planters in their natural color, but summer really begs for colorful planters.  I used the diy anthropologie inspired planters I shared a few weeks ago to create a summer dining room table vignette.  We were able to enjoy this vignette for a bit before the water damage tore our first floor apart.  That story is for another post. 🙁  Let’s just say that our first floor is still a wreck.

Dining Room Vignette With Planters

I have to say, these little planters have become one of my favorite projects.  The floral paintings on it are colorful and perfect for summer.  It’s super easy to create so be sure to check out the tutorial.

Planters are one of my go to decorating items.  It’s really a “two for”  when you think about it.   You use the color or pattern on the planter pot itself to add color in a space.  Plus, the plant brings in the nature or botanical element that bohemian style homes have.  Though my house skews to the more eclectic boho side, I still fully appreciate the look of plant-iful homes.

Vignette making is a great time to whip out your cake stands and pedestals.  Decor items in a variety of heights makes a vignette look collected and purposeful.  It’s also more visually pleasing, so get out your books, a stack of plates, or cake stands out.  Bring in some fresh summer florals to complete your vignette.
