DIY Painted Mother’s Day Card
We have some big changes happening around the house. Unfortunately, we had a water leak that has caused water damage to both our kitchen and dining room. The mess of exposed subfloors, broken down kitchen cabinets, and pulled up carpeting has left me with some stress….as would be expected. So, I’ve been working on some stress relieving projects including painting. I created a diy painted Mother’s day card with easy to paint abstract flowers. The entire process was definitely stress relieving and fun. I even painted some planter pots with the same technique. I’ll share those soon. Here’s how to paint your own Mother’s day card!
DIY Painted Mother’s Day Card
To create your own card, you’ll need heavy cardstock and paint pens. I’ve taken pics of the steps I used to create the pretty flowers, but you can easily create your own floral design. Start your card by creating various sizes of dots in the lightest paint pen color. These dots will be bases for flowers and accents. Repeat the process with each light colored paint pen. Create swirls and randomly placed dots throughout your card. Don’t be afraid to layer colors on top of each other.
Use the darker and bolder shades of paint pens to give your flowers more depth. Use non-traditional colors to create floral stems or accent the green stems you’ve created. Add your happy Mother’s day message with black markers and paint more flowers around your message.
Once you’ve finished, allow your card to dry before slipping into an envelope. Send your pretty painted card to your Mom or special Mommy in your life. Or, combine with a beautiful floral gift basket like the one I created with a belly basket. Check out the idea here.
Happy Mother’s Day!
