7 Easy Fall Decorating Ideas For The Living Room and Entryway

Fall decorating can sometimes be pushed back to late in the season. The kids go back to school, sporting events restart, and so many other family obligations can push your home decorating to the back burner. It’s so important to carve out some time to refresh your entryway and front living spaces for the fall. The entryway and/or front room is where your family enters your home and where your guests are greeted. That’s why I love to refresh my home in the early portion of the fall season before anything gets too hectic. Last year I refreshed my family room with pops of color. This year, I’ve partnered with Cost Plus World Market to share 7 easy fall decorating ideas for a welcoming living room and entryway.
To start, I think a before and after picture is needed to illustrate just how I transformed this space. The living room has been on a little journey this summer. Here is how it looked in January after my New Year, New Room refresh followed by the summer look I shared a couple weeks ago.
Here is the living room all ready for my family and guests this fall season! The warm tones play really with the other colorful elements in my space. A good portion of my decor is from Cost Plus World Market and my local store in Chevy Chase, so take a trip this weekend to your local store! You can find your local store here using the store locater.
Refresh Your Entryway Paint
One of the quickest way to refresh a space is to give it a new coat of paint. The previous stenciled trellis wall is gone, and a new bold blue creates an instant first impression for my home. Not only does this new color coordinate with the warm tones of fall, but it’s an amazing backdrop for fresh fall flowers and foliage. Can we agree that this Indian painted elephant looks spectacular here? This was truly my favorite item from my Cost Plus World Market fall haul. Stay tuned for the tutorial on my global style galvanized tray. 😉
Fall Entryway Table Decor
I love having fresh flowers any time of year. Fall florals can be just as bold as your new wall color. I used the painted elephant as a color palette to coordinate my floral arrangement. The fall eucalyptus floral arrangement picks up all the majestic colors from the elephant. Of course, I needed to add a plant. Plants are accessories too! Having a beautiful vintage style glass plant mister next to your plants not only serves as great decor, but a reminder to water your plants.
Natural Entryway Rug
Rugs have a great way of making a space look pulled together. This fall, try swapping your entryway rug for something natural looking. I found a great jute woven rug that coordinates great with the other rugs in my living room and dining room. The new rug creates a palette for other colorful additions later on in the year. You can layer a kilim or chindi rug right over the jute rug for seasonal looks.
Coordinate Old and New Pillows
When shopping for fall decor, pillows should always be on your list. Spoken like a true pillow hoarder.
Cost Plus World Market has a great selection of pillows to help you easily coordinate new pillows with your previous fall colored pillows. Texture and pattern can add a comfy touch to your sofa. Look for pillows that evoke comfy vibes like velvet and paisley patterned pillows. Add heavy textured pillows like a Moroccan wedding blanket pillow and faux fur pillows to the mix. If you need a complete look, shop for a new sofa! I purchased my gray Kendall sofa in January and it’s been such a great addition to my living room. Add Double Duty Furniture
With all your guests popping in this fall season, you’ll need extra seating. There is a great selection of furniture for small spaces furniture at Cost Plus World Market. I opted for a comfy looking boho shag pouf that can double as seating and a table if need be. As a matter of fact, you could also use it as an ottoman and kick up your feet as you sip some hot cocoa.
Incorporate Metallic Touches
Don’t forget about your metallic touches when decorating this fall season. I’m a big fan of mixing metals all year long so often get pieces that I can use again and again. For example, glass lanterns with gold embellishments can be used for candles and floral vases. A metallic urn looks great as side table decor now, but can also be separated and used as a statement bowl for a coffee or dining table.
Create Boho Chic Wall Decor
Continue with touches of metallics all the way up to your walls. This gorgeous large gold filigree art compliments very well with the rest of the space as well as the gold framed art pieces. The metallic urn on the side table brings the boho chic vibes to the side table.
