How many of you know your neighbors?  After living on the same street for 5 years, I’m still getting to know our neighbors.  Summer time is the perfect time to invite neighbors over and meet other moms.  Family, which includes neighbors and friends, is so important in the Latin culture.  My parents’ hosted frequent block parties, small gatherings, and even hosted wine tastings for neighbors.  This summer, invite some of your neighbors for a Sutter Home wine sipper.  My parents knew that Sutter Home was the go to wine for summer entertaining and now I’m continuing the tradition by using the same award winning California wine.

Sutter Home makes occasions so much more special by offering several varietals that bring people together to share good times.  I decided that my wine sipper gathering would need a great tasting Sutter Home Moscato, Sutter Home Red Blend, and Sutter Home White Zinfandel.  These great tasting wines pair excellently with some Latin dishes like sauteed shrimp with tostones and a refreshing mango avocado summer salad.

Sutter Home White Zinfandel and Peach spritz snowballs, also known as snow cones, are a great way to cool down from the scorching summer heat.  Make snowballs easily by mixing Sutter Home White Zinfandel with peach flavored sparkling peach juice and add to ice crushed in a food processor or blender.  I like to refrigerate the mixed wine until my guests arrive.

Wine sippers do not need to be time consuming or cause a lot of stress.  Simply arrange 2 to 3 small dishes to serve with at least one red and one white Sutter Home wine.  Sutter Home Moscato pairs very well with a mango, avocado summer salad.  This salad is so easy to make!  Simply add all the ingredients into a large bowl and give it a light toss.  Use small bowls to serve the salad and refrigerate the remaining salad to replenish your guests’ bowls.

Sutter Home Red Blend pairs wonderfully with sauteed shrimp served with tostones.  Tostones, or fried plantains, are a staple entertainment food for many Latin families.  Who am I kidding?  Plantains are practically another food group!
