Wallpapering the Basement Progress
It’s week 3 of the New Year, New Room Refresh challenge and we are hitting a nice groove in the work to be done for the basement home gym. The goals for this week were to get all the materials and decor ordered, start on the wallpaper installation, and settle on the paint color for the wood slat wall. Though a lot of the work was complete, I still have a way to go in the coming last two weeks.
Ordering decor for a home gym
I’m a fan of DIY and home renos, but I adore decorating spaces even more. I’m a little sad there isn’t too much decor involved in a home gym, but I’m making the most of this little space. I found this awesome neon light-up you got this typography sign that is going to be perfect for the gym.
It’s motivational and will inspire me to continue on my fitness journey moving forward. Is this a big ask for a sign? Probably, but I’ll need all the help I can get.
Removing Wallpaper quickly
The easiest task for the week was removing the previous wallpaper. I used my steamer with the wallpaper panel attachment to remove all the paper super fast. If you missed my post about fast wallpaper removal, you should check it out. Once you’ve used a steamer to remove wallpaper you won’t want to go back to any other method! It’s fast and easy.
New Wallpaper is UP!
Once the paper was removed, the new wallpaper started going up almost immediately. I am loving the look of this wallpaper and the pattern is creating a completely new vibe in this space. It’s giving me zen spa, but hopefully it still feels that way after the decor and exercise equipment gets moved in.
Week 4 will be a last push to have the wood slat wall done and the rest of the blue wall bump outs painted. I’m still on the fence about painting the wood slats or leaving them natural. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to check out what all the participants have completed for week 3 below!
