My Easter decor has been inspired by the beautiful Easter traditions and spring florals seen during my time in Europe. This Scandinavian floral tassel garland has the simplicity of Nordic style mixed with the pizazz of bohemian decor. Use this floral tassel garland for Easter and keep it up through spring!
Scandinavian Floral Tassel Garland
For this Scandinavian floral tassel garland, you’ll need yarn in your choice of color and some faux florals. I used faux florals from the Hearth and Hand line at Target, but you can use any florals that make you feel like spring is here. I also recommend a white yarn for a fresh spring vibe. The white makes the florals pop against the yarn. Of course, you can use an assortment of yarn colors and textures. I’m already thinking of recreating this garland with vibrant summer colors come May.
Cut the yarn in 5 strings 1.5 yards in length then tie all five strings together in a knot leaving about 8 inches free to make a tassel (1). Divide the strings into 3 groups (2 groups comprised of 2 strings and 1 solitary string in the center). Lay the first faux floral stem in the center with the 1 solitary string and braid all 3 groups of strings together (2). Be sure to braid the stem of the flower into the braid to secure in place (3). When you’re ready to add the next floral, lay it in the center with the solitary string just as you did with the first floral stem. Then, use the single solitary thread and tie a knot around the floral stem (4).
Continue to braid the yarn threads adding floral stems where you’d like. When you have adding your desired amount of florals, tie a knot around the yarn thread to secure your braid (5). I recommend knotting twice just in case. Snip the remaining ends of the yarn to make even with the opposite side tassel. Then use the snipped off yarn to create 2 more tassels on your garland. Simply loop and pull the yarn around the garland to create the tassel (6).
How cute are those tassels hanging on the garland?! I just love the mix of the tassel accents with the simple floral pieces. I added two tassels on the garland, but you can add so many more if you wish. You can also add tassels in other yarn colors to create a completely different color palette. I’m loving the spring vibes it brings to our entryway along with my global style Easter tree. Though, it looks super pretty hanging from the yellow buffet too. Such a lovely way to welcome and entertain the family this Easter.
