Honestly, I’m a big candle person.  I tend to purchase several types of candles on sale and use them up pretty quickly.  I purchased a box of votive candles from Amazon and have been inserting them into jelly jars to use in the evenings.  I love using candles around the house, especially on the family room coffee table and mantel at night.  The hubs and I snuggle up in the family room to watch a movie or our recorded shows while sipping our evening coffees.  The ambience is great for a relaxing summery night and these cute diy pineapple candles are the perfect addition.  Here is how you can create these simple DIY painted pineapple candles.

What You Need:

  • Pillar or votive candles
  • Yellow and green Paint pens

Start by cleaning your candles of any debris or dust.  A moist paper towel will do the trick.  Then, make a dashed vertical line with the height you’ll want your pineapple using the yellow paint pen.  Make two more dashed lines to the left and right of the center vertical line.  Feel free to rotate the dashes as you paint them on.  Fill the center with more rotating dashes to fill in your pineapple.  Finish by painting the greenery on top of your pineapple.  Let dry (about 5 minutes) before styling your candles.

You can find glass votive holders at crafts stores and can easily replicate the design on the glass.  However, if you’re satisfied with the look of the candles on their own, simply use a coaster or tray to style your votive candles.  Just make sure that the surface is protected from the melting candle wax.   I’m using a marble coaster from World Market here, but will be using my mason and jelly jars in the family room as well.
