Powder Room Design Board
Continuing my 30 Day Room Makeover Challenge…
I have decided that the next room makeover will be the powder room. After considering the amount of work for both the laundry room and powder room, it seemed like the powder room was the best choice since the snow is limiting outdoor painting.
I found my inspiration from these decorative pedestal bowls (Jardin Des Plantes) from Anthropologie.
The combination of white, blue, and gold is so beautiful and could pass for modern nautical style. All three bowls have different, bold patterns. My favorite is the herringbone pattern bowl in the middle.
In order to stay on track with my 30 days time frame, I made a design board (sometimes called a mood board). This was also a big help when I went shopping for materials today. I can go off on a tangent and start buying things for other rooms or sometimes a completely other design for the same space. How often does that happen to you?
Many of the items on the board will be DIY projects to take on or updates to do on the current pieces in the powder room. I have a few more additions that I may add depending on the overall look of the powder room.
I dont foresee the powder room taking longer than two weeks, but it all depends on how much I can complete during Nugget and Chi-Chi’s nap time. I’ll be posting a few tutorials on how I made some of the decor pieces soon, so stay tuned.
If you forgot how my powder room looks. Here is a before and after picture of the walls painted with Commodore by Sherwin Williams.
I changed the towel bar, light switch plate, and outlet plate after the walls were painted. You can see the different towel bar in the after picture. These will also need to be updated for the makeover. Luckily, I only paid $10 for all of the fixtures on a swap site. If you haven’t joined a Facebook swap site I highly encourage you to. It’s pretty much like Craig’s list, but it tends to be a little less intimidating meeting people since you can look at their profiles prior to meeting and the swapping takes place more locally.
I made some good progress today purchasing my supplies and materials. I am so excited to get started on this makeover and I will keep you posted on my progress.
Thanks for stopping by,
