Setting general goals for the New Year seems less intimidating than saying you’re making New Year resolutions for some reason. In the end, resolutions are just goals! Before making goals, think about what your overall word of the year will be.

Setting a word of the year

A word of the year is a mantra of sorts that will guide what you do, how you will approach situations, and/or guide your actions this coming year. Last year, my word was balance. I wanted to work on balancing being a businesswoman and a great mom/wife to reduce my guilt about missing kids’ activities or my FOMO (fear of missing out) of blog events.

This year, my word of the year is Skill-building. I want to stop saying I don’t know how to do something and give things a try. Perhaps by learning and doing new skills, I can grow more confidence in all sorts of craftsmanship. Maybe I won’t be fantastic at performing those skills, but at least I gave it a go! What will be your word of the year? Use the worksheet to jot it down.

Identify goals for the year

The rest of the New Year’s resolution printable is focused on identifying things you want to do, learn, and succeed at. Jot down general ideas of things that you want to accomplish in the New Year. Don’t be afraid of being too broad. This is your list so you can be as broad or detailed as you’d like.

In the next few days, work on creating steps for each of your goals and what month you’d like to have them completed. You can use your calendar to jot down what months you will complete each goal. Setting timelines and achievable steps will help you accomplish and see those goals come to life!

I hope this New Year’s resolution worksheet will help guide you in making the most of 2020! Wishing you the most successful and joyous New Year!
