I am embarrassed to say that I just realized that Mother’s day is this Sunday!  Family life is very hectic now with the kid’s school, work, house projects that it’s sometimes difficult to come up for air.  However, it is so important to take time to show family members just how important they are to you.  As a mother, it feels so wonderful to receive a breakfast in bed, beautiful flowers, or a thoughtful card on Mother’s day.  Which makes me wonder how I am showing appreciation for the other mothers in my life.

My mother raised 3 girls overseas in a foreign country.  If raising 3 girls wasn’t hard enough, my father traveled frequently for Military deployment which left my mother alone with all 3 of us for weeks at a time.  Two of my three children are young and I freak out when my husband just works late!  I can’t imagine being alone with all three of my children for weeks.  My mother made a point to take us to the library, developed exciting games, encouraged our talents all while learning English and living in Europe!  I was shocked when my youngest sister informed us that she’d be moving overseas with her husband, I immediately was reminded of the experiences of my mother raising children away from family.  My sister, who not only is completing another college degree, stays home to raise my 3 year old niece and 1 year old nephew.

This Mother’s day, I wanted to do something special to acknowledge my sister and to show her how much she is appreciated as a mother.  It takes a strong mom to raise children away from your family and an even stronger mother to do it all overseas or away from family.  You too can acknowledge the special mothers in your life that are afar by sending them a Mother’s Day Tea Party Box!

To make your own Mother’s Day Tea Party Box, head over to Walmart to the American Greetings aisle.  American Greetings has a great selection of cards, gift wrap, tissue paper, and gift bags that will just make your Mother’s day Tea Party Box superb!  Here is how you can make this beautiful and thoughtful Mother’s day gift.

SUPPLIES:

1. American Greetings Wrapping Paper
2. American Greetings Gift Bags and Tissue Paper
3. American Greetings Mother’s Day cards
4. Dove Favorites Chocolates
5. DIY treat box
6. Tea bags
7. Tea cup set
8. DIY Paint Stroke Tray

Use your American Greetings gift wrap to cover a shipping box.  This box will need to be shipped within a larger box, so don’t go crazy with the size of the box.

Line the inner box with tissue paper.  Assemble your DIY treat box by wrapping the Dove Favorite chocolates in strips of the American Greetings wrapping paper. Insert your chocolates in a small wood box (can purchase from craft stores) which is lined with the American Greetings tissue paper.  Make opening your Mother’s Day Tea Box even more fun by inserting your treat box in a gift bag.  Who doesn’t love opening lots of present!
