Knock It Off DIY: DIY Kate Spade Glass Pitcher Knock Off
Hola!
Do you love re-creating designer looks? When it comes to home decor and at times fashion, a great knock off can be very exciting to make. Jess at Domicile 37 created a new series called Knock It Off DIY where we are challenged to create a home item based on monthly themes. The best part is that you can play along too! How fun! Find out how to play at the end of my post.
This month is all about Kate Spade! I adore the colors and patterns Kate Spade uses in her designs. I’ve shared a few posts on Kate Spade DIYs. You can see some round-ups of Kate Spade DIY projects here and here.
For the Knock It Off challenge, I decided to re-create this cute Kate Spade First Come, First Served glass pitcher.
To make your own First Come, First Served. glass pitcher, you simply need this super cool engraving pen which you can purchase through Amazon. I love this pen! I have now used in on wood and glass with great results. It’s very affordable too. You will also need a glass pitcher. I happen to have a carafe in a very similar shape to the Kate Spade pitcher, but you could probably score a similar pitcher at a dollar store or use a pitcher you already own for this project.
The text is available for you to print out here, or you can type up your own version of the saying using different font. Just cut out your saying and use double sided tape to adhere to the inside of your pitcher. This will be your guide while you engrave the pitcher.
Then, you use your engraving pen to trace out the letters on your pitcher. Be careful not to have your pen slip. Probably wouldn’t have happened to me if the kids were napping. Nugget came to me to figure out what the noise was (the buzzing engraving pen) and my hand slipped a bit on one of the letters. Whomp Whomp…
Wash the pitcher afterwards to remove all the debri from the engraving process and you’re good to go. I was so surprised at the results, honestly. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the engraving pen on glass, but it worked great.
I’m looking forward to seeing what my blogging buddies have made! Follow the links below to check out other Kate Spade Knock off DIYs.
