How To Use Plants for Summer Table Decor
While many people decorate with fresh flowers for summer, I’m loving botanical accents this season. Here are ideas for how to use plants for summer table decor!
Plants are becoming my latest addiction. Now that I’m a recovered black thumb, I’m slowly adding more and more plants to my home. I saw a meme recently that plants ladies are the new cat ladies and it’s so true! Once you have a plant that’s survived a year, there is a surge of confidence of your plant care skills that you continue to add more and more plants! Summer time is the best time to spread your wings and incorporate more plants in your decor, but you can’t exclude your table. Swap those florals for botanicals this season and use plants for summer table decor.
Summer Tray Vignette with Plants
Styling a tray vignette is a pretty and easy way of decorating your coffee table. I styled a tray vignette for spring in the family room and today I’m showing you my living room summer tray vignette with plants! One of the most stylish and interesting ways to decorate with plants is to use unique plant pots. I love the look of terracotta pots, but once in a while I love to insert them into their own pot jacket of sorts. Simply insert your pot and drain plate into a larger container for a new look. Use ceramic ginger jars, woven baskets, or wood containers for a new plant look. I scored this wood container a few years ago in Target and it typically holds a bunch of office supplies. Now, it’s looking cool for the summer with one of my plants! Make sure you protect your container from rot and damage by including a drainage pan inside.

Shop your home for interesting glass containers to hold snipped leaves from your larger indoor plants. You can also head outdoors to snip some leaves from your garden. I love using this Moroccan inspired oil container for a few leaves. Don’t have any ornate glasses? Not to worry! Grab those mason or jelly jars and use those instead! The glass looks wonderful next to ornate Moroccan hammam bowls and trays.

Air plants have become the “It” plant this year. Whether you love air plants or not, these stylish and easy to care for plants do great things when paired with decorative bowls. I used my DIY painted Aztec inspired bowl to style a couple air plants for the table. You could also use a few faux succulents if you prefer. Add a bead garland for additional texture and color. These yellow bone beads were left over from my DIY bone bead jars and compliment the air plants beautifully.
Plants are a great alternative to florals this season. You don’t break the bank and they last so much longer than those fresh cut flowers. Decorate your home with plants this summer and they’ll be great decor accents each season thereafter! Have you jumped on the plant wagon yet? Which is your favorite plant look for the summer?
