Bedroom Swap Wall Mural Plans

It’s week 3 of the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge, but it’s practically week 1 for me. I’ve finalized my makeover rooms during week 1 and then shared my plans during week 2, yet I haven’t actually started the refresh until this week!

My fellow NYNR participants are sharing their week 3 progress and they are probably more ahead of the game than I am. Be sure to pop over to each blog and check out their progress!

How I Plan For a Painted Wall Mural

Today I wanted to share my plans for the painted wall mural going up in Nugget’s new room. I loved how the geometric wall mural turned out in my office and one would look awesome in Nugget’s room too.

For the exact steps I use to plan a wall mural design, check out the steps in my geometric wall mural post. For Nugget’s mural, I’m excited to get something on the walls inspired by the Australian otomi print from Spoonflower. I knew I wanted to incorporate the colors into the wall, but a mural makes it possible to do so using many colors.

Here are a couple design options I’m thinking….

Using a combination of stripes and large shapes in vibrant colors would allow that artistic flair I’m hoping to create in the room. It allows the base neutral color to shine through and spotlight the different shapes.

The second design uses more color and covers the wall more. It would still showcase shapes, but the colors would flood the room more. Which one do you like more? I’m a bit on the fence.

This week I’m going to sand the wall stripes and paint the walls. I’ll be sharing my progress over on Instagram. Would love to connect with you there. In the meantime, head over to the other participants sharing their own week 3 progress.

  1. I vote for the second one. The first one has a lot going on, the other one seems bolder and more in keeping with a boy’s room.
