Easy To Do Colorful Fall Porch Ideas
Whether you have a small or large porch, you can wow your neighbors with these easy to do colorful fall porch ideas!
How often do you decorate your outdoors? I have to admit that it’s been a while since I’ve decorated our porch for fall, so I wanted to create a beautiful and colorful fall porch this year to reignite my porch decorating love. And hopefully keep it going into the winter!
You would think that a little pumpkin here and a little pumpkin there would do the trick, and it many cases it could! But if you’re looking to wow your family and neighbors, there are few ideas you can pull off in just one afternoon.
Fall Decorating
Before you and I dive into our porch decor, I want to be sure to we think about what fall means to us. When you think of fall, what images come to mind? What scents, colors, and nature elements make you happy for fall?
For many of us, fall equals coziness, red and orange leaves, sweaters and knits, pumpkins, cinnamon, and mums. However, if your fall loves are Halloween themed, then feel free to dive right into that! Fall decorating can be anything you want it to be. If you prefer pink pumpkins and teal gourds, then go crazy with that color scheme indoor and outdoor.
Colorful Fall Porch Ideas
The tip to creating a beautiful fall porch is to incorporate several seasonal items and spread them around the outdoor space. Creating small vignettes or areas of decor gives your porch a designer touch and well styled curb appeal. Here are easy fall porch decorating ideas you can do now for a beautiful fall scene.
1. Add a variety of faux pumpkins in several shapes, sizes, and colors
Mixing a collection of pumpkins that have various shapes, sizes, and colors creates a more natural feel to your porch versus using several pumpkins with the same appearance. If you can only find one type of faux pumpkin, which can easily happen if you’re shopping October or November for fall decor, give a few of the pumpkins a different look by painting them!
2. Elevate fall florals with pedestals or high vases
Adding various levels to your outdoor display of flowers will have you feeling like you’re walking into a fall garden. Mix potted florals or plants with elevated florals for a truly fall display. I used large mums in tall pots as well as full dipladenia bushes in a pedestal vases to create a multilayered floral display. This looks even better once you add the faux pumpkins.
3. Refresh Mulch, If You Can
All your work adding pumpkins and florals may fall short without a fresh layer of mulch. I spent an afternoon removing weeds and applying a layer of black mulch to the front of my house. My legs didn’t forgive me from all the bending, but the front porch area looked like a fresh canvas for my fall display afterwards. So worth the trouble!
4. Add a little spooky with inflatables or hanging decor!
Though we are now towards the end of the fall season, I was happy to put up some inflatables this year to bring a smile to the kids’ faces. I’ve never used inflatable decor before, but I am 100% in love with them. They are so easy to place, just plug in and they inflate on their own. I also added a few floating witches hats with some clear fishing wire to make the porch a little spooky. This little pop of black makes the colorful florals stand out even more.
Fall isn’t over yet! There is still time to make your porch a colorful fall scene. So take the time this week to create your own colorful fall porch and enjoy these last weeks of fall.
