Easy Bohemian Style Entertaining Ideas
Hosting a fall event? Pull it together quickly with these easy bohemian style entertaining ideas!
The first weeks of fall are here and that means all sorts of gatherings here at the casa. Creating a beautiful and welcoming spread is something that has always brought me joy. A well set tablescape can make any space truly beautiful. Even one that is less than ideal for entertaining. Imagine a table with a bold fuchsia bouquet streaming off the sides of the table set in a concrete industrial warehouse. Or, a citrus infused centerpiece with Moroccan fez dishes on top of a white linen table set in the middle of a wooded area. Pretty inviting mental images right?!

Bohemian Style Entertaining Tips
One of my recent obsessions has been low table entertaining. Have you seen those gorgeous low table dinner parties on Pinterest wanting to recreate the look in your home? Well, you don’t even have to build a low table to recreate those low table gatherings. Most coffee tables are the perfect height for entertaining in a casual bohemian style. Low tables are often used for meals in Morocco and other Mediterranean countries. This fall, use your coffee table to evoke that bohemian sensibility into a causal fall meal with family or friends.
Fall is a great time to have your friends over and enjoy each other’s company. My friends and I love to host small watch parties each fall to kick off the premieres of our favorite shows. Will & Grace is definitely a favorite of ours. We all get our kids settled in their beds and then us mommas get to enjoy our shows with a little wine and dine. Speaking of Will & Grace, did you watch the season 2 premiere? I was so excited to see David Schwimmer on the show. His character was so hilarious and now I want him on as a regular. 🙂
Having the girls sitting around the coffee table for a bohemian style watch party was easy to do. I first gathered up a bunch of pillows from around the house and tossed them around the coffee table. It’s just the right amount of cozy comfort needed for a night of tv watching or girl talk.
Use a colorful pashmina or scarf to cover the coffee table. Just be sure it’s one you don’t mind getting a little messy or is easily stained. I love to incorporate bold, colorful florals on a tablescape. I went with shades of purple to break up all the blue on the table.
There was already a lot of color going on among the pillows, the pashmina, and the florals so the place settings were toned down…..slightly. I have to say that the black and white patterned plates from Pier1 really made this table. I love the contrast between the black and white plates and the woven charger plates. Charger plates are a great way to add more texture to your table by the way.
Finish off your bohemian table with a small takeaway gift for guests. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. You just want to have your guests feel special and that you are thinking of them. I placed a few of my favorite item right now, the diy gilded dried grapefruit ornaments I made last week. These dried fruit ornaments make a great gift, especially with the holidays just around the corner.
When creating your own bohemian entertaining space, just remember these tips and you’ll be set for a pretty boho affair for your friends and family.
- Pile pillows around the coffee table for comfortable and fun seating
- Use a pashmina or scarf to cover your table
- Incorporate colorful florals and mini bouquets
- Mix plates and patterns for the placesetting
- Include a small gift for your guests
