Early Fall Decorating with Thrifted Decor

Hola Amigos!

I hope you have been having a great week. I have been dealing with the back to school rush, organizing the playroom, and caring for three sick kids. Oh, and a husband that says he’s not sick but rather is “clearing his throat” (really coughing) and “reacting to allergens” (really wiping his runny nose). What is it with some men admitting that they are sick? Everyone is finally getting better and I have been finding inspiration for my Fall decorating at….wait for it….the thrift store!

New accent pieces and decor every season would be fantastic and a dream. However, I think most of us need to be pretty savvy with our decorating, am I right? You can wait to buy the seasonal decor when it’s on clearance, update your current seasonal decor, and buy decor at local thrift stores all to save money. I’ll be using all three saving options this season. I have to, because I tend to go a bit overboard in the Winter. Need to save up that money.

This week, I visited a thrift store to find some inspiring pieces that would kick-off my Fall decorating. I found two beautifully crafted Spanish glass vases. These vibrant orange vases were $2.00 each. Such a great score for hand crafted glass vases! I’ve seen similar, if not exactly the same, vases for more at HomeGoods.

The orange color reminds me of Fall and of citrine and topaz, the gem stones for November. So, I’m thinking of concentrating on gem stone colored decor for the Fall. The dining room is the first to get Fall refresh. I’m still on the fence about repainting the butter yellow buffet table. Though, this small Fall vignette looks pretty good with the yellow buffet.

My mother brought me flowers this week which were the perfect gem colors for Fall. I wasn’t feeling well myself and my mother always shows up with flowers when I’m not feeling great. She’s so sweet and the pretty flowers really do make me feel a little better.

One vase was used for the flower arrangement and the other was elevated using a planter. The two pieces looked pretty good together and it almost looked like a Moroccan decanter.

A few of the corked decorative bottles and thrifted brass candlesticks complete the vignette. The bottles were part of my Spring mantel decor and frankly I have been moving them around the house ever since. The small details on the bottles add to the overall vibe.

I’m feeling motivated to begin the rest of the Fall refresh. I’m thinking I’ll start outdoors and work my way in, if there aren’t too many bugs outside. What spot or area do you think you’ll start with? When it comes to finding Fall decor inspiration, don’t overlook the thrift store this season.
