Gingerbread House Garland Colors

My small garland required 9 cards to make, so keep this in mind should you plan to hang your garland on a larger surface such as a Christmas tree or mantel. There are several varieties of color combinations you can choose for your garland. Here are just a few options when choosing your colors.

  • Go for a monochromatic look and use cards in the same color
  • Alternate 2 or more colors
  • Use shades of 1 or more colors
  • Alternate shades of 2 or more colors (this is what I did!)

I used shades of 3 main colors (pink, blue, and tan) for my garland and then mixed them up when stringing them on my ribbon. The combination of pastel shades looks so cute in Chi-Chi’s room.

How to Make a Gingerbread House Garland

After you’ve chosen your color palette, it’s time to prep the cards for the garland. I did this all by eyeing the shape needed, but feel free to draw out your house on each card should you need it. I also used a small paper cutter, but scissors work just as good.

Tutorial for Gingerbread House Garland

  1. Use paper cutter to cut paint chip card into house shape.
  2. Punch two holes for the ribbon into each card with a hole puncher.
  3. With a white paint marker, draw gingerbread house details onto each card.
  4. Add each house to ribbon to create the garland and hang where desired.
