DIY Letter Holder from Thrifted Place Card Holders
Hola!
Wow, it is such a late post for me. It took a bit of work to get back into the swing of things. How was your holiday? I had a great time with family and friends. The break was wonderful, but I’m ready to start getting back to projects. So, here is the first project of the year! Woo Hoo!
January is always a big time for organizing. As soon as the Christmas decor leaves, it’s as if the house goes through a major organization overhaul. I’m finally able to join the Junk Revision challenge this month and guess what the theme is, organization of course. It’s perfect timing.
Instead of buying new items, I decided to use some thrifted items to work on some organization around the house. I purchased these Thanksgiving place card holders a while ago with an idea to remake them into a letter holder. I need to organize everything in my home, but the entryway is a big area in need of organization and styling. So, I made this cute letter holder to organize incoming mail for my husband to see as he gets home. Come back tomorrow to see the full entryway refresh.
The process was so simple really. I started with giving the turkey place card holders a few light coats of a red-orange spray paint. How cute are these turkey place card holders?!
I wanted a bit of wear to them, so I was really light with the coats. Hey here’s a tip, do not spray paint on a cold windy day. Not only did the paint spread a bit on my deck, but the paint took forever to dry. Better yet, the tip would be to follow what you know. I knew it was a bad idea to spray paint on a deck on a cold, windy day. It’s about that season when all the spray painting jobs are on break.
When your place card holders are finally dry, glue all four pieces together in a line. A glue gun works just fine for this project. However, if you want to go with the heavy duty glue should you like. Add a bit of ribbon to tie the look together and hide the separation of the individual place card holders.
You’re all set my friend! I chose to use four of the eight place card holders I purchased. It was the perfect size for letters and fit great on my entryway shelf. You could always bind two of them together to hold smaller mail or notes for your family to see as they arrive home.
Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing how I incorporated this thrifty letter holder into my entryway shelf. Here is a sneak peak, but be sure to stop by tomorrow for the full view.
Now, head on over to see what my other buddies have made for the organization themed Junk Revision challenge!
Don’t forget to pin this project to your organization Pinterest board!
Thanks for stopping by my casa!
