I know that it’s not even Halloween yet and I’m sharing an ornament idea, but I did warn you that I’ve been obsessed with these diy gilded dried grapefruit slices. 🙂 I shared a diy fall boho bicycle wheel wreath I made with a few slices last week and in the process created these cute diy gilded dried grapefruit ornaments.
DIY Gilded Dried Grapefruit Ornaments
Give a global or bohemian touch to this project by adding colorful beads from Ghana. This project is suuuuper easy and can be created in no time. This is probably a project that wouldn’t warrant an entire post, but I wanted to share it with you so you can come up with your own ideas for where to hang your diy gilded dried grapefruit ornaments.
If the beads look familiar, it’s because I used them for my popular diy global bead garland tutorial. I just love how colorful these beads are and they are so great for adding a global touch and color at the same time!
When it comes to decorating for any season, I do tend to sway to the easier side to avoid missing any family time. The fall and winter seasons are such a strong family time for us. We have the kids’ birthdays in the fall along with the holidays so you can imagine our house is pretty full these two seasons.
These diy gilded dried grapefruit ornaments are great for a kids’ activity too. You can combine your decorating time with family crafting time and have the best of both worlds.
Create your own global style diy grapefruit slice ornaments by stringing a dried grapefruit slice onto bakers twine. Find out how to dry grapefruit slices in case you need a refresher. Add the beads ( I got mine from Woman Shops World on Etsy) to the bakers twine and tie the ends together. If you need help threading the beads, use a U shaped piece of floral wire wrapped around the bakers twine. Then, simply add the bead to the end of the wire and pull the wire through. This will pull the bakers twine through the bead easily!
I’m loving the softer mauve color of the dried grapefruit, but if you prefer another citrus color you can easily substitute for oranges, lemons, or limes. Create a garland of these ornaments or hang on seasonal greenery for easy and natural seasonal decor. You could also use these dried grapefruit ornaments for gift toppers or hang several of them on your Christmas tree.
