Colorful, Cozy Family Room Fall Tour
My colorful, cozy family room fall tour! Ideas for bringing warmth to your family room.
It’s November and I’m finally posting these photos taken in August! I know….I know…it’s been such a long time and we are welcoming winter in a few weeks. However, I did want to share how I decided to decorate the family room for the fall especially since I’m planning on switching things up soon.
I’m planning out a first floor re-design to go with the kitchen renovations. I’m so excited to share the fab changes coming in the new year. Just to refresh your memory, we decided to switch up the layout of the first floor. Instead of having a formal living room, we are transforming that space into the new dining room. This gives us the space to expand our kitchen into the old dining room. Ladies and gents..I’m finally getting a kitchen island at the end of this! I’ll be sharing more about the kitchen next week. 🙂 Anyway, the family room will be our main living space so I wanted to make simple changes for the fall that would bring a warmth to the space.
Colorful, Cozy Family Room
Many people remove the vibrant colors from their space and swap it for more muted colors or neutrals. For me, I prefer merging the colorful vibrant colors with the warm fall colors. One of the best ways to start decorating for the season is to swap the pillows or pillow covers. A few autumn colored pillows make any space more cozy.
I can’t help using these pretty pillows I scored from World Market last fall. Don’t forget the faux furs! Incorporating different textures is the way to go for fall. The heavier textures also work to make the space more welcoming and comfortable.
Coffee tables in our house get used very often during the fall season. We do a lot of family events and game nights during those cooler fall days. We take out the board games, play cards, do evening snacks for movie nights, and more. So, I didn’t want to put too many items on the table this season.
A stack of magazines and books are great ways to elevate a couple of treasures for the season. My son made this cutie apple at school and it’s having a moment now on the coffee table. He was so happy to have something he made out on display.
I shared the artsy boho fall mantel a few weeks ago and haven’t made changes to it other than swapping out the greenery. I love the hues of blue pumpkins mixed with the neutral pumpkins. The same color scheme is visible throughout the family room. That level of coordination makes the room feel cohesive for the season. Do you keep the same color story in your spaces each season?
I know this is a quick tour, but I’m hoping you’ll be inspired to make a few quick changes in your home for fall before it’s gone. Remember these ideas to create warmth in your colorful spaces this fall season!
- Blend vibrant colors with neutrals
- Use lots of different textures in pillows or blankets
- Leave room for family activities
- Incorporate family items and art to make spaces more family focused
- Use seasonal decor that coordinates with your room color scheme for effortless style
