Hanging wall decor is an instant way to transform a space for the season. My tutorial for the boho picture frame wreath will help you bring a festive vibe to your holiday decorating. Use it on your wall, door, or place on your mantel! Here is how you can make your own.
Beaded Tassel Garland Tutorial
To make your picture frame wreath, you’ll need to make the beaded tassel garland first. Start by cutting a long piece of yarn long enough to wrap around the frame a few times. Create a tassel and add to one end of the yarn. Insert unfinished beads in any sequence desired. I started with 4 beads next to the tassel and then reduced it by one as I approached the other end of the yarn.
To add beads, use a small segment of wire bent into a “U” around the yarn. Then, add the beads to the exposed wire and pull the wire through the bead. This will pull the wire through the bead. Tie a knot next to the bead if you don’t want the bead shifting around. When you have all your beads in place, add a tassel to the other end.
Now, you have a tassel bead garland which looks pretty cute all by itself right?! You could use the garland as is over a family photo, your mantel, over a mirror, or drape it on your Christmas tree.
DIY Picture Frame Wreath
Take your newly formed beaded tassel garland and drape over an empty frame. I used a frame I already had on hand, but you can easily buy a used one from the the thrift store. Wrap the garland around the frame and secure with a glue gun or duck tape.
I’m loving the look of yellow this winter, so I added satin yellow ribbon to hang this pretty boho frame wreath. Insert eucalyptus gently around the wrapped yarn for a fresh and aromatic winter theme. What do you think? Pretty easy to create right?!
I’m planning on displaying this new wreath above my mantel which I will share later on as one of the decor ideas for the Very Global Christmas series. I believe it’s on day 8, but don’t quote me on that. In the meantime, it’s hanging on my front door.
Would you use unfinished beads for this project or take a more colorful approach and use painted beads? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to save this post to your Holiday pinterest board. Share this idea with friends by sharing the link in facebook! Kathy and I will be back tomorrow to share another globally inspired idea.
