Big Boy Bedroom Design and Scandi Glam Bedroom Design
Week 2 of the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge is starting just like week 1….. with much excitement! After many design changes and 20 year old Pink vetoing many design boards, we finally have settled on an overall design for the room. Keep reading to see my big boy bedroom design as well as Pink’s Scandi glam bedroom design.
Don’t forget to check out the progress these fab bloggers have shared for week 2! I can’t wait to see how their rooms have progressed this week.

So, I must be a glutton for punishment because I’ve decided to not only refresh these two bedroom swaps, but Chi-Chi heard about the refresh and now wants one too! I think a coat of paint will do and perhaps an update of some of her furniture placement. We will see how this goes. In the meantime, I wanted to share the two designs we are going to make happen for Pink’s (20 years old) and Nugget’s (8 years old) bedroom.
Let’s break down what we are going to do in the two bedrooms!
Modern, Scandi Glam Bedroom
Pink continues to request a new bedroom that has glam vibes with a modern edge. I thought she would benefit from a room driven by the simplicity of Scandinavian design with glam accents. Originally, the design was much more monochromatic but I found that incorporating neutral global prints makes a better impact than white on white on gold like Pink wanted.
Mud Cloth Duvet // Flower Chain Woodblock Euro Shams // Plus Sign Sheet Set // Silver Velvet Curtains // Driftwood Laminate Flooring // Dresser // Acrylic Feet Leg End Table // White Modern Ceiling Fan // Black and White Lamp // Black and White Modern Rug
One of the biggest decisions was to select new bedroom furniture. I’m thankful to be partnering with The Home Depot to sponsor the new modern bedroom furniture for Pink’s bedroom. She’s going to be ecstatic about her modern furniture! The gray headboard matched with the white furniture pieces creates that glam effect perfectly balanced for her Scandi glam bedroom.
You have no idea how much I want to incorporate some bold colored paint into this room, but at least I was able to insert some of my global aesthetic in a way she’d love too. These gorgeously global bedspread prints from Spoonflower look awesome with the new furniture.
Plus, the black and white bedspread prints will pop even more with the new driftwood laminate flooring from Select Surfaces. I will be picking that up this week so it’ll be in over this weekend.
Artsy, industrial global bedroom design
Nugget’s room is going colorful, industrial, and global with all new shelving units and a desk from The Home Depot. The hard industrial pieces will be balanced by the colorful accents around the room.
Australian Otomi Duvet // Otomi Euro Shams // Orange Ombre Curtains // Tribal Stripe Bed Sheets // Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan // Industrial Shelves // Industrial Desk // Desk Chair // Black and White Striped Rug // Driftwood Laminate Flooring
The wall will have a colorful painted mural made with colors pulled from this dynamic Australian otomi print from Spoonflower. I am head over heels in love with this fabric pattern. Nugget loves art, so incorporating elements of artistry throughout the room will be a must.
With all the colors in the room, having a neutral rug was definitely needed. I’m loving this neutral black and white rug from Mohawk rugs. It calms the eyes from all the color happening throughout the room.
Some other elements to incorporate in both spaces are going to be a little surprise for later. Pink does tend to check out my blog so I want to keep some of the elements a secret until I reveal the room to her. I may reveal the bedrooms to the kids live on Facebook or Instagram so we can all see their shocked expressions. Hmmm ideas…ideas…
I couldn’t have done these spaces without amazing sponsors. Be sure to check out these fab sponsors for your next room makeover! Until week 3 friends!
