Behind the Blogger: What I’ve Learned From Blogging
Hola!
I’m joining the wonderful Jess from Domicile 37, Deb from Seeking Lavender Lane, and Jen from Fresh Crush again this month for Behind the Blogger! We have been sharing some behind the blog scenes and This month, we were asked to share what we’ve learned from blogging. I’ve only been blogging since December 31st…of last year. So, I’m still relatively a newbie. However, I have always pushed myself to do my best at whatever I do. Blogging was no exception.
I shared a bit about why I began blogging in the first post of the Behind the Blogger series, which you can read here. Blogging has been a tremendous blessing to me. It is an outlet for stress, a catalyst to my creative drive, and has brought me tremendous joy. However, with all the positives and benefits comes some negatives of course. The housework takes much longer to complete, take-out/delivery now happens on a weekly basis, and my bedtime went from 1030pm to 3-4am. Sounds great, huh.
It does to me!
Blogging is a great motivator to do whatever you love to do. You don’t want to let down your readers, so they become a driving force for you. I am so thankful for all my readers. Without you, I would just be writing for myself.
I know there are many bloggers who share tips and guides for blogging. They are extremely helpful and great tips. I’m going to share some important tips which you probably have not seen out there in the bloggersphere.
1. Find a spot or area that you can use to think about your blog post.
My spot is the bathroom. If you don’t have kids yet, this may seem odd to you. But, it is the only area where I don’t have kids asking me questions, requesting toys, or asking for the ever popular fruit snack. Whether in the shower or brushing my teeth, I always have my best ideas in the bathroom. Haha. Your spot can be anywhere that allows you to figure out how you will make your project, how you want to photograph it, and a bit of how you’d like to write your post.
2. If you don’t like it, then don’t post it.
I have had several projects that ended up a hot mess. Other bloggers may say to post and explain what you’d do differently, or what went wrong, etc. Those types of posts are great, but back it a solution. Show the result of the project when all things do go right.
3. If your mate, husband, boyfriend, whomever is not good at DIY…then please do not enlist their help!
I always would ask my husband to help me do some home projects or tasks around the house prior to blogging. They always turn out… let’s just say that I had to do them over. Blogging does not magically make someone good at DIY. Blogging has pushed me to try new things, but it does not mean that they will be great. If you forgot what you should do in these matters, see #2 again.
4. Buy stock in Starbucks.
I have spend plenty of nights typing and editing photos. Sometimes I don’t even go to sleep! Coffee has become my bestie those nights. Even now, it’s nearly 3am and I’m still typing this post.
Lastly, 5. Blogging buddies are a must have!
I have made so many great friends just through blogging. My friends don’t get how blogging can be filled with stress and anxiety, but still makes you extremely happy. The only people that get it are other bloggers. Joining Facebook blogger support groups has been a lifesaver. Who else can you ask how a random table looks in your family room at 2am and not get an evil stare down.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this insight into my world of blogging. I am so thankful that there is a platform to share creative projects and have someone be inspired by them. If you are looking to become a blogger, welcome to the club.
Thanks for stopping by my casa!
