A Boho Friendsgiving Tablescape
Thank you to The Home Depot for sponsoring this post!
The holidays are fast approaching, which means one thing….the hosting times are upon us friends! Are you stressing out yet? Not to worry, because The Home Depot has what you need to transform any space into a great hosting experience. I’m excited to be partnering with The Home Depot today to share my very first Friendsgiving tablescape!
I know it’s hard to believe that I’ve never hosted a Friendsgiving, but it’s true! I’ve hosted our family Thanksgiving practically every year for the past 10+ years. Several of those boho Thanksgiving ideas were shared right here on Casa Watkins Living; but, Thanksgiving hosting experience is not needed for Friendsgiving. This friendship focused dinner can be either formal or casual making it so much fun to decorate for.
What is Friendsgiving?
More than likely you’ve hosted a Friendsgiving and didn’t realize it. Friendsgiving, in a nutshell, is a dinner party hosted for friends on or around Thanksgiving. While Thanksgiving is centered around family sharing a large (and traditionally formal) dinner, Friendsgiving can be a more casual Thanksgiving meal for a group of friends. This is a great way to spend time with your friends especially if you are planning to travel for Thanksgiving and before the hecticness of the winter holidays start.
As a bonus, there isn’t a specific day in November to host Friendsgiving like there is for Thanksgiving. So you could plan your Friendsgiving dinner any day that works for you and your guests. Simply make your dinner menu, or plan it as a potluck, then shop The Home Depot to bring your tablescape and decor to life.
Friendsgiving Decorations
Whether you decide to make your Friendsgiving dinner formal or informal, you can find plenty of table decor at The Home Depot in store or online. I shared how I shopped my table decor from The Home Depot on my newest Instagram Reel. Check it out for a video tutorial of how I decorated my dining room for Friendsgiving.

The Friendsgiving decor was truly inspired by the colorful changes happening in my dining room. I recently removed the wallpaper and painted the dining room a bright orange color (Florida Sunrise by Behr) with a blue trim (Alice White by Behr). The color combination was very reminiscent of the tropical homes in the Caribbean and I was inspired to create a boho Friendsgiving tablescape made entirely from decor from The Home Depot.
You may notice the completely new look of the dining table and chairs. I’ve been eyeing this gorgeous weathered dining table for a couple of years now and I jumped at the opportunity to get it this year. The beautiful wood grain and metal touches screams Spanish mission/revival style. Maybe even a bit of hacienda style which I adore! I paired it with the lush green dining chairs for a modern and colorful twist.
I think this entire dining set up looks amazing with the carved cabinet I moved into the dining room last month. A few natural wood lanterns with battery powered remote controlled fairy lights and a couple of pretty colored glass vases makes the cabinet ready for the holiday. The fluted colored glass vase and brown glass vase bring in the fall color palette with a stylish flair.
Boho Friendsgiving Tablescape
I started with a place setting made of gorgeous melamine dinner plates with a multicolored medallion pattern, the coordinating salad plates, and medallion dinner bowls. This dinner set reminds me of rustic Spanish and Mexican Talavera pottery. It was perfect for my global bohemian vibe I wanted to create on the table. Some ivory napkins and copper flatware help to balance all the color from the dinnerware.
I’m always a fan of colorful glassware so I ordered several sets of this four colored goblet set and used one color for my table. The others will be used soon enough. Perhaps for a colorful Christmas tablescape! The blue ombre glasses are too cute not to use for this tablescape. These make excellent glasses for cocktails, but we can’t forget the wine glasses. My tablescapes often include multiple glasses and I adore that The Home Depot has so many options available online to shop tableware.
The pumpkin succulent planters were personalized with each guest’s name for a place setting and a cute favor for the occasion. Most of my friends love plants and these succulent planters were the perfect way to show that I care about them on this special day.
I also used plants and real pumpkins I bought from my local The Home Depot to decorate the center of the table. Can you spot the cute hand carved animal napkin rings? Napkin rings can be used for cute touches around the dining room when not in use. They can also be placed in a cylinder glass vase for vase filler too!
Overall the dining room now feels like a true part of our home. After all the changes in the kitchen, there seemed to be a disconnect between these two spaces. So, I’m so happy with the new dining room look and that I could complete it shopping in ONE PLACE! Be sure to check out all the dining room decor on The Home Depot and get your space ready for Friendsgiving too!
It looks so pretty!
Thanks so much Kathy! It was so fun to put together and you know I’m a fan of any plant centerpiece. 🙂
