Global Style Paper Mache Easter Eggs

Create your own global style paper mache Easter eggs with this simple tutorial!

a very global Easter series for 2018

It’s day 3 of a Very Global Easter and Kathy and I are sharing fun Easter egg tutorials!  I revealed our Easter tree centerpiece yesterday which features these global style paper mache Easter eggs.  There is something rewarding about creating your own holiday decor.  I  feel a sense of pride and accomplishment in crafting and these eggs are super easy to make!  They’ve been on my To-Do list for a while.  I purchased the bag of paper mache Easter eggs 2  years ago and haven’t found the time to create something with them.  These eggs are definitely easy to work with if you’re looking for a quick Easter project.  Speaking of which, be sure to check out Kathy’s beautiful Easter egg project at the end of this post.  I’m totally in love with her Easter egg idea!

To create your own set of global Easter eggs, you’ll need: white paint pens, black pens, paper mache eggs, and white ribbon to hang the eggs.  You can skip adding the ribbon if you want to arrange the eggs in a bowl rather than hang on an Easter tree.  There a a few different eggs that I created for my global Easter tree.  The mandala inspired eggs were the most fun to create, but the most extensive.  I think I touched the paint five times and dropped it twice creating this egg.  I went off memory to create my mandala, but I do suggest googling a mandala picture to help you recreate it on the egg.

I wanted to incorporate a Christian centered eggs and used my black marker to draw crosses on one of the Easter eggs.  Have fun creating Easter eggs that are special to you.  You can create any time of designs on your Easter egg, but be mindful that you’ll need something to help you prop them up to dry.  You can use an egg carton, some ceramic egg cups from your kitchen cabinet, or cut up pieces of a paper towel roll.

Once the eggs are dry, add a dot of glue (I used my glue gun, but any glue is fine) to the bottom center side of the egg and adhere the center of the ribbon to it.  Wrap the ribbon upward on either side of the egg and add another drop of glue to adhere both strands of the ribbon to the top of the egg.  Be sure to leave enough slack ribbon to tie the ribbon to the tree.  Once the glue is dry, tie each egg to your Easter tree and enjoy!
