15 Ways To Make Boxed Cake Mix Better
The day I saw Semi-Homemade by Sandra Lee on the Food channel was a game changer for me. Sandra Lee and her famous semi-homemade philosophy made it perfectly okay to cut corners when creating a meal for family and friends. I’ve cut down so much time from my cooking with the semi-homemade approach. Desserts are just as easy to make semi-homemade. I’m not embarrassed to say that I use boxed cake mix. My family doesn’t even know! Well…. now they do, I suppose. Adding a few extra ingredients to your boxed cake mix will make it so much better and give it a delicious homemade taste!

- 1 1/2 teaspoons of allspice with 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (perfect for vanilla cake mix)
- 1 cup of chocolate chips
- 1 cup of chopped nuts (walnuts are my favorite!)
- 1 extra egg will make your cake more moist
