Hola!
It’s so wonderful to be joining my fellow blogging friends today and share another Create and Share Challenge! This month’s challenge was to revamp a basic white curtain. I know what you’re thinking…that’s pretty simple, but I’ll tell you that the more simple the project item is the more creative are the projects you can create. Today, you’ll see 6 amazing and creative white curtain refresh projects to transform those basic white curtains hiding in the linen closet. My DIY Pom Pom napkins are super easy to create in 2 steps even for the non-sewer like me. The DIY Pom Pom napkins are easy to customize and my total cost to make them is astonishing!
What You Need:
- An old or unused white curtain panel
- Pom Pom fringe (I purchased mine from the dollar section at Target!)
- Festive ribbon (Joann Fabric ribbon clearance section…$1!!!!)
- Fabric Fusion
First step is to create the napkins. I like a large napkin and opted for 16×16 squares. After you wash your curtains, create as many 17×17 square pieces each of which will be one individual napkin. Create clean lines by folding 1” around the entire square to create a seam. Use your sewing machine or my best friend, Fabric Fusion, to bond the fabric.
Lay out your pom pom fringe and coordinating ribbon to plan your napkin embellishments. When you have a look you adore, use your sewing machine or Fabric Fusion to attach each piece. I wrapped the ribbon to curve slightly around the underside of the napkin. When using Fabric Fusion or any equivalent, it’s always best to let sit overnight prior to use.
Now you napkins are ready to use! Pair these fun DIY pom pom napkins with colorful plates to reflect the season or tablescape. I’m becoming super addictive to pom pom fringe, especially for $1 a yard! This entire project cost me $2.00 for materials and I still have a bunch left!
Hmmmm, I see pom pom pillows in my near future.

How to extend your use of DIY napkins:
- If you didn’t wash your napkins prior to adhering the ribbons, wait 24 hours after using Fabric Bond to wash napkins
- Wash napkins on gentle cycle
- Be mindful when choosing ribbons that some shrink in the wash and can distort your napkin.
