One Room Challenge: Dining Room Makeover Week 1

Hola!
Did you catch all the great posts from the official 20 designers of the One Room Challenge yesterday?  If you don’t know, the one room challenge is a great room makeover challenge hosted by Linda of Calling It Home where decor enthusiasts chronologize the process of a room transformation over 6 weeks.  The final room is revealed during week 6.  Last year, I shared my living room makeover.  This year I am tackling this room!

Yep, my dining room!  These photos are from Christmas.

The Issues to Tackle:
1.  The dining room has silver blue walls, which reads more like baby blue in the light.
2.  The modern table set is not my style, and even though I tried to make it more to my liking by adding a colorful fabric to the chair cushions.
3.  Lacking global flair
4.  Need standout art workI’d like to see a global flair routed in Mediterranean style that is colorful and eclectic in style.  This dining room will mix global elements to form a welcoming, global nomadic dining retreat.  Here is a room I find so inspiring

These dining rooms are a bit light in color compared to the rest of my home, but I plan to expand on these inspiring photos to create a colorful global retreat dining room.  I love searching dining rooms on Pinterest, if you’d love to follow my inspirations for this room be sure to follow me on Pinterest.  I made a preliminary design board to help gear my vision.  I’ve been lucky to partner with some amazing brands for this room transformation.

The dining room has global vibes and expresses a calm color pallet compared to my previous One Room Challenge.  Since both rooms face each other, I wanted the dining room to compliment the living room.  A rustic Mountain farmhouse dining table by Urban Home takes center stage.  Ivory finished wood chairs with cane seating from LampsPlus adds to the farmhouse feel, but also allows for other styles to be included.  I wouldn’t want to have a complete farmhouse dining room.  Though beautiful, it isn’t’ my complete aesthetic.

Plants and florals are a must in any room in my home.  The beautiful Parrot in The Jungle art piece by Cozamia makes incorporating any florals and greenery seamless.  Adding to the global vibes, the Moroccan tray by El Rahla Hamra is a beautiful addition whether on the wall or used for table decor.  I’m still contemplating the rug to tie the room together.  I have a few options picked out from RugsUSA and so far they have been jute/sisal rugs!  More to come on that in the coming weeks.

This room could not come together without the support of the following brands!  I’m so honored to have an amazing collaborating team this year.  Thank you for supporting brands that support Casa Watkins!

Looking forward to this 6 week journey with you.  Be sure to follow my social media accounts as I share the ups and downs of this dining room makeover!
