Global Inspired Dining Room: One Room Challenge Week 3

So we are at the halfway mark with the dining room makeover as part of Calling It Home‘s One Room Challenge!  This is the week when many of the participants second guess some if not all of their design decisions.  They get overwhelmed with all the great ideas from the other participants or find more inspiring rooms on Pinterest that cause them to change aspects of the design.  Spouses that said they would help get too busy and participants are left to do certain tasks on their own.  Wait……

I’m describing my week!

I decided to use the Ikea curtains I showed last week, but then I saw a beautiful photo posted by Wayfair that made me reconsider that decision.  Unfortunately, I STILL haven’t found these curtains after searching up and down the internet.  If you have seen them, please let me know.

 

I was supposed to paint the room this past weekend and that never happened.  Also on my to-do list for the weekend was to move the current dining set to the kitchen.  Yep, you guessed it.  It’s still located smack center of the dining room.

Here is the kicker.  The mountain dining table from Urban Home is scheduled to arrive between 8am-12pm today!  So, I need to move all the furniture from the living room to then move the furniture from the dining room to clear the room.  I am really excited to see the table!  I’ll post a picture on instagram when it arrives.  You can follow me on instagram here if you haven’t already.

So, of my to-do list, the only task that was accomplished was to replace the brass chandelier with a rustic, smooth chandelier from Wayfair.  The new chandelier was slightly larger than I had expected, but it is a huge improvement from the builder brass chandy.

I love how this chandelier can work with several home styles depending on it’s surroundings.  It could go rustic with farmhouse tables, contemporary with sleek chairs, modern, and so many more styles.  The iron like features hint at a modern Spanish or British colonial style which I love.

My updated to-do list includes:

  1. Painting the room….(1.a invite a friend to help…… 1.b buy some wine for my friend)
  2. Ordering the rug
  3. Replacing the curtain rod and hanging it closer to the ceiling
  4. Deciding what to do with my yellow buffet… (shante you stay or sashay away?)

The yellow buffet seems like it would be rather large next to the new dining table.  Though, it does look awesome with the stunning Moroccan tray from El Ramla Hamra, right?!

  14. I feel you on the furniture limbo – have a dresser stuck in my guest room until Salvation Army can here at the end of the month! Your light in gorgeous – great style and focal point!

  15. Those curtains are to the trade Peter Dunham Fig Leaf fabric. (One curtain panel will probably be north of $1000, as the fabric is more than $200 per yard.) If you contact drape makers on etsy you could place a custom order. (If you have thousands of dollars to spend on curtains.)

    If you want to try making them yourself, spoonflower.com has some banana leaf prints that are similar, and under $30 a yard.
