Winter Home Tour Part Two

Hola!

Welcome back to my Winter home tour and special $500 paypal giveaway!  Bienvenido to everyone and also those coming over from Katie’s home tour at View From the Fridge.  Wasn’t her home amazing!  Today, I’m continuing the Casa Watkins winter tour and sharing my dining room.  I shared my living room yesterday, so if you didn’t get a chance to see it take a look at it here.
I’m thrilled to be joining Carrie from Lovely Etc. and over 20 new bloggers for A Very Merry Christmas Home Tour!  We have also collaborated to offer a $500 paypal giveaway!!  Yes, $500!!
It’s the perfect prize for holiday shopping this month.  Be sure to enter the free giveaway at the end of the post and start the Very Merry Christmas Home Tour from the beginning.
I admitted yesterday that my Christmas decor comes out in phases.  Right now, I have simple Christmas touches incorporated in my home.  Gradually, you”ll see a bit more decor as we get closer to Christmas.  I’m trying my hardest not to go too overboard this year.  Though, I haven’t made any promises to my family, haha.
My home style is an eclectic mix of global styles all fused together with a hint of farmhouse.  The dining room took on a bit of Scandinavian style for my early winter decor.  I wanted simply stylings, inclusion of sheep skin furs, and mostly neutrals but it wouldn’t be a Casa Watkins room if it didn’t have some color.
I used two sheep skin rugs from Ikea to make the runner.  I’m going to need to stock up on these.  I have now used them draped over chairs, hanging from a shelf, and now as a runner.  Basically, every function other than its intended one.
I am really loving the mix of chinoiserie blue and white patterns with pinecones and greenery.  I used a lot of pinecones in my living room decor.  So, it was only natural to have them continue into the dining room.
I found the small chinoiserie vases in the thrift store for $1!  I scored some great pieces last week and shared the full blue and white treasure chest on instagram last week.  I just saw that my post was featured for #thriftscorethursday too! How exciting!   If you aren’t following me on instagram yet, you can follow me by clicking here.
Of course, the floral arrangement wasn’t complete without a pinecone adornment.
**Tip:  If you have ceramic containers, you can always use them as vases by cutting a paper/plastic cup to size and inserting it into the ceramic container.**
The place settings were kept pretty simple since I arranged the buffet table with the rest of the meal essentials.  Gold chargers from the dollar store, blue napkins from Wegmans, white everyday plates, and a bit of greenery with a pinecone is all you need.
The reupholstered seats continue to amaze me.  They coordinate yet again with the tablescape.  I was a bit worried after covering them that it would be difficult to design table arrangements with such a bold patterned fabric.
The yellow buffet table was spruced a bit for winter.  Oranges and pinecones were mixed in a thrifted milk glass bowl.  Cake stands are great to add some height to a vignette.  I used a cake stand to elevate a stack of colored dishes that coordinated with the rest of the buffet.
I couldn’t forget about the chandelier.  The chandelier was draped with magnolia garland.  How lovely do the magnolias look with the crystals!?!
Overall, I am very pleased with the look.  I may add some fresh clippings from a tree as it gets closer to Christmas.  I try not to get too many fresh clippings, because I’m concerned about bugs.  I know, I know.  It’s only small bugs.  I just really despise bugs in our home, so I typically purchase florals.  I can see them adding a special touch to the centerpiece though.
