Swap It Like It’s Hot! DIY Pencil Holder Planter
Hola!
So excited to be joining in on this year’s round of Swap It Like It’s Hot! This awesome exchange involves a bunch of bloggers swapping packages of thrift store items and seeing what crazy cool things we can make from it. It’s like the blogger version of Iron Chef, or perhaps Craft Wars! Remember that show on TLC hosted by Tori Spelling? Kind of miss that show.
If you’re new to Casa Watkins, I’m Stephanie! I love color, global eclectic decor, and plants/flowers. Bienvenido a mis casa! I received my thrifty goodies from Karen of Year of Serendipity. Thanks Karen! Her blog is full of great DIY and decor ideas! Definitely check out Karen’s blog and see what goodies she made over. Karen sent me a clock and wooden whale pencil holder. I’ll be sharing what I did with the clock soon, but I just had to share how I made this super cute confetti faux planter!
I had a few ideas of what I could do with this wooden whale. The wood was in great shape, so I decided to keep it intact. I started with two coats of white chalk paint then used a gold leaf pen to make the confetti. After the paint had dried, I applied a coat of clear wax.
How cute is this whale of a planter?! Sorry, I couldn’t resist the pun.
Head on over to Erin Spain to see what she did with the loads of stuff I sent her way. There was some pretty weird stuff included so I’m eager to check out what decor goodies she has made. See what the other participants have created from the beginning by clicking Monday’s links below.
Thanks so much for stopping by my casa!
LOVE!!! This is gorgeous and what a perfect way to use it. It really stands out now and I always love white and gold pieces. 🙂
