Spring 2015 Tablescape Part Uno
I am falling deeper in love with the combination of navy blue and black/white. I was very inspired to complete a Spring tablescape that included bold colors and mixed patterns following my cruise to the Bahamas. I also needed a budget friendly tablescape after I saw the final cruise bill. Do you know how much you spend while on a cruise ship? It’s ridiculous!!
I started with some blue and white floral placements I found at HomeGoods. They are $9.99 for a pack of four. A little pricey, but that’s because it has a cork backing. Much more durable than any linen placemat. This was my most expensive purchase.
The wicker charger was a thrifty treasure. I bought four chargers with accompanying metal plates for $4.00. The orange plates are from the dollar store as well as the easter eggs. I found the plain navy blue napkins while grocery shopping this week. It was $2.00. I know I could have easily made them, but I was feeling a bit lazy that day. It was my first day back from the cruise.
The white China plate is Mikasa and I already owned it, along with the silverware. I thought I’d try something new with my silverware placement. I’m more on the traditional side when it comes to silverware setting, but I like how the silverware looks on the salad plate rather than on the placemat for this tablescape.
One of the best things to do when decorating on a budget is to shop your house. The little grass patches were purchased from Michael’s last year for Chi-Chi’s birthday. It was only about $1 and from their Summer clearance aisle. I like to keep those little party decor elements. You just never know when you can use them again.
You can bring a little of the outside in using faux grass. I used my glue gun to adhere some ribbon and placed an Easter egg on top to give the place setting a Spring/Easter look. Otherwise, it was looking a little Summer.
My latest home decor crush has been on ginger jars and frankly all things chinoserie. One of my best friends found this great ginger jar while thrifting. Typically, authentic ginger jars can range from $100- to upwards of $500 or more. This treasure was a whopping $4!!!! I also scored these chinoserie tea light holders for $0.50 a piece. I’ll talk more of my centerpiece in my Spring 2015 Tablescape Part Dos post. I still have my no-sew table runner to finish and then I’ll give you an updated picture.
I hope you enjoyed my tablescape so far. I only spent $20 for the entire tablescape including my thrifty treasures and new placemats. Tune in on Tuesday for the finished look and my no sew table runner.
