Modern Boho Coastal Christmas Tree
It’s finally here! The Christmas crafts, decor, and holiday cheer is back and we are kicking it off with my annual My Home Style Blog Hop: Christmas Tree edition! This is my 7th year hosting this fun event and I get so excited each and every year for it. Be sure to come back each day for a new set of Christmas tree ideas! Now, let’s get into this year’s theme….. MODERN BOHO COASTAL!
Modern Boho Coastal Christmas Tree
I’ve been wanting to do a mediterranean/coastal themed Christmas for a few years now. It didn’t work out last year since I wasn’t able to snag the right decor for it and this year, well…I forgot again. So, I went a different route by incorporating sea glass for a modern coastal Christmas.
I’ll be sharing all sorts of boho coastal Christmas ideas for the next 11 days with my pal Kathy of Up To Date Interiors. We partner up each Christmas to share 12 days of globally inspired Christmas ideas for our Very Global Christmas series. She’s our next stop in the Christmas tree hop in fact!
My first tree is up and is a modern twist of a coastal tree. I didn’t get to receive the last bit of my supplies in time to add the last touch, but not to worry….I have 2 more trees to decorate! This tree was decorated with a faux monstera plants and ivy garland, jewel colored ornaments, and a new sea glass ornament I made. Stay tuned for this sea glass ornament tutorial coming tomorrow!
Botanical Christmas tree decor
Last year’s botanical Christmas tree was decked top to bottom in plants and I was told has been featured in the December issue of Better Homes and Gardens! YAY!! I haven’t seen it yet, but will be heading out to find a copy this week. I was bit by another botanical bug this year, but not to the full extent of the previous year. I used the ivy and monstera plants to create a wrapped garland around the tree. The monstera plants have truly become a favorite of mine this year. You can see my monstera pals regularly in my colorful, modern boho living room.
Sea Glass Colored Ornaments
The colorful plastic ornaments were a buy from Target a few years ago, but I paired them with old upgraded chartreuse ornaments from my tropical bohemian Christmas tree I did a few years ago and the new DIY sea glass ornaments for a colorful pop.
I do like having a unique tree topper on the main tree. Whether its a palm leaf, a collection of flowers, or a sprig of berries I like to have something interesting to top the tree. At the bottom, I used tasseled belly baskets and real plants to surround the tree. The baskets will be great to store the gifts as they start piling around the tree.
I’m so glad to be getting back into Christmas cheer this year. Last year was a very difficult time with my father in law passing during the holidays. It will be hard celebrating this year without him, but I’m happy that we have our family coming together to celebrate his memory and our love.
Let’s continue the Christmas tree ideas by hopping over to Kathy’s blog, Up To Date Interiors for another Christmas tree idea! I just know she will have an amazing and beautiful Christmas tree. I can’t wait to see all of the Christmas tree ideas today and the rest of the week. Be sure to come back tomorrow for the DIY tutorial for my sea glass ornaments and another sea glass ornament idea not seen today!
